Thanks for the update Dawn! Hopefully the SWOC webmasters as well can update the front
of the SWOC website with updated information on this years C^3. It hasn't been updated in
two years unfortunately.

Cheers

As soon as you post the programming to the web site, you need to tell folks
it's there....the four lists you sent this too is too limiting. I suggest
you can Send to

- SFnorthwest - List <sfnor...@yahoogroups.com >;
- NCL - List <nwcon...@yahoogroups.com >
- you could get someone on Norwescon committee, or Orycon, and other
conventions, you could have them champion (share) the info.
- have you shared in Facebook or Google +, or that old thing, LiveJournal?

And include advertising encouraging people to attend ConComCon, suggest who
should attend, why they should attend, and of course, keep it short.

how many folks have registered?

Speaking of the schedule, what does the panel titled "Do you know what your dept does" cover? There's no description that I can find.

Thanks,
Lea

Hi Lea

That mainly what does your department do.  Some of the new con's that have started up know that they have to have an Operations Department, but don't know what that means or what that department does.

Not to mention each Con seems to run their departments very differently, so one conventions Ops might mean something very different at another.  Then some conventions use very different names, for example Norwescon doesn't have an "Ops" department. I assume that Gens's Operation department is close to Norwescon's Convention Services department.  So having a list of job descriptions might be a better way to compare, than by the title of the departments.

As another example: a number of conventions on the East Coast use "Con
Suite" for what Norwescon calls "Hospitality", and "Hospitality" for what
Norwescon calls "Department Head of Convention Services".

Not just East coast...  CONDuit, in Salt Lake City has always used Con Suite for where the food and drink is found....

Not only is having a list of job descriptions--and checklist of tasks to be done--a better way, it is, in my opinion, the only sensible way to do things. There is a world, no, a universe of potential pain lurking in assumptions about the scope of responsibilities when the only specification is a department name and a vague, general description of its role.
