What does a WiFi explorer for Windows do? WiFi Scanner, a WiFi explorer for Windows, is an application that lets you scan and analyze your WiFi. It gives you detailed statistics about the surrounding networks, including their names (SSID), signal strength, channels and security settings. You can use it with your computer's built-in wireless adapter, an external USB card or a remote Linux-based sensor.
Some people might ask, "Why scan for WiFi when you can explore the WiFi?" The reality is that there are two primary methods of WiFi discovery on Windows: active scanning and passive scanning. Without scanning for WiFi first there would be nothing to explore.
WiFi Scanner is a WiFi explorer, WiFi finder and WiFi analyzer application for Windows. The program scans all available WiFi channels (2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, 6E / 6 GHz) to determine the signal strength of all nearby wireless access points. Additionally, it shows detailed information about each nearby network.
Unfortunately, when explorer.exe runs, it displays the taskbar which I don't want. (I had previously assumed I'd be able to hide it with a group policy setting or something but this doesn't appear to be the case).
In Private Network section, select these "turn on network discovery and its subordinate checkbox", "turn on file and printer sharing", then again use this address in windows explorer "Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Network and Sharing Center" and make sure your ethernet adapter is a private network.
Now go to android, open your local network app (in this case es explorer, but this works for other apps as well), use the copied ip address in the host name/ip address textbox, use the copied username and password, and press connect.
So, the only way I got this working was to turn off password protected sharing. Then on es file explorer press and hold on my laptops icon in the network search then click the pencil at the top right then in domain entered the name of my laptop then entered my username and password and then that was it. I was able to see all my files but I cant get into the c drive only my files in my user folder are accessible and obviously public folders. So even turning off the password sharing it still seems secure.
Note: WiFi Explorer is my go-to WLAN tool on the Macbook, but I know a lot of WLAN engineers have been looking for a similar PC tool. Welcome to WinFi, the Wi-Fi analyzer for Windows! I am using a Univeristy laptop with all the network ad safety configuration from the University.
I've upgraded to win 11 about 2 months ago and in the last weeks I have started experiencing a very annoying problem with the windows explorer.
It has become unbelievably slow, it's impossible to open any folder uless you wain maybe 50/60 seconds, but I've noticed that it works better (almost normal speed I would say) if:
- System fan is running, laptop working hard
- I can not click on windows icon (start), just does not respond
- I restart, does not change anything, same behaviour.
- I can click on the icons in the quick-launc, so I try to start chrome (but there is no wifi..no connection it says)

When I plug in the camera, I get the Windows USB sound, but Windows does not prompt me as to what to do when it detects a camera, and there is no drive mounted in the file explorer starting with Canon EOS or anything else. My phone also never showed Cellular at Sea in the display. While we were sleeping, at 4 in the morning, data I started to send on the wifi continued transferring after the wifi kicked out costing more $$
Maybe it's just me, but I think the way you worded your first post in this thread is leading to confusion. Instead of starting out by basically saying, "Because Explorer's wifi was so bad and my device wasn't able to maintain a reliable connection to it, I incurred a lot of roaming charges while docked...". That wasn't completely obvious, at least to me, until I re-read the post a few times.
I run my MTH explore on the same loops as my TMCC. I just have to power my explorer and refresh the app to get power to the track. Then I start up the TMCC engine. I have the Explorer wired to tracks and the TMCC base wired separately to the track.
