Hi,

I'd like to get the Concerto screensaver working for our system, but can't seem to find a guide on doing this.  I've found RPI's screensaver, but not a way to configure/convert it for use elsewhere.

Has there been anything written up on how to do this?

Thanks

Hi Zack,

The help page we wrote up for the screensaver is here.  Basically, the server url can be changed in the settings menu after you install the screensaver, and then you can click load and select feeds from your system that have graphical content in them.  If you run into trouble, this discussion talks about troubleshooting the way content is loaded.

Hi Zach,

Thanks for the quick reply.  I installed the screensaver and can load my feeds in the settings, although I am running into the "Please connect to the internet..." warning when I go to preview the screensaver, same as Nick F. from the thread you sent me too.

I've found the RSS feed for the graphical feed I wish to use, which is http://concerto.domain/concerto/content/render/?source=screensaver&type=graphics&select_id=13.  I've run this feed through the w3.org feed validator, and it comes back as a valid RSS feed.

I get a little lost when I read further down in the thread where it Nick F. is editing files to get things to work.  Which file(s) is he editing?  If someone could provide a little more understanding on that, that would be helpful to me.

Thank you

That error message is somewhat ambiguous, as Brian points out.  Nick's first post is about making sure mod_rewrite is installed, and the second one is about changing line 273 of content/render/api/009.php to have '&format=raw&file_ext=.' . $file_ext; at the end of it. That's so window sets the file extension correctly. Incidentally, what version of windows are you using?

Hi Zach,

I didn't have mod_rewrite installed, but do now.  Also, I opened 009.php and looked at line 273, and I already had that at the end of it.

This is what my line 273 looks like:
$raw_link = 'http://' . $_SERVER['SERVER_NAME'] .  $script_name . 'image_' . $content->content . '?' . criteria_string($criteria) . '&select=content&select_id='.$content->id.'&format=raw&file_ext=.' . $file_ext;

After restarting apache after installing mod_rewrite, I went to preview the screensaver and got the same message about connecting to the internet.  Is there anything else in this line I need to change?

I have a post from about 10 minutes ago awaiting moderation.  I've since tried other feeds with the screensaver and have had success.  I guess I was trying with feeds that weren't graphics only.  Thanks for the help!
