Hi everyone,

18 years ago today, we installed the very first Concerto screen in the Lally School at RPI. It’s been quite a journey since then, and today we’re marking that anniversary with a major milestone: the first release candidate for Concerto 3.

Concerto 3 is a ground-up rewrite using Rails 8 and Vue 3. While the tech stack is modern, the goal remains the same: a powerful, easy-to-use community digital signage system. This release brings the core features you know; screens, feeds, moderation, and subscriptions while introducing some long-requested improvements:

* Pinned Content: Finally, a native way to lock content (like clocks or weather) to specific fields.
* WYSIWYG Template Editor: Edit your screen layouts visually without touching code.
* OIDC Support: Modern SSO integration for organizations.
* Remote Feeds: A new way to pull in dynamic content from external sources.

How to try it:

Please note that this is a "fresh start" release candidate rather than an upgrade path from Concerto 2. We’ve focused on getting the fundamentals right and making the system production-ready.

We would love your feedback! If you find a bug or have a feature request, please head over to our GitHub Issue Tracker, join the discussion thread, or reply here.

Looking forward to your feedback,
~Brian M

Hello Brian!

This is great news. I work at a small college and we have used Concerto 1 and then 2 over the past 16 years. Just in the last few months, we had been searching for a replacement for the current Concerto 2 instances we have. We were in the middle of demos and free trials last month when we saw this announcement. Yay! We are so excited to kick the tires on this new build. Our system admin team is setting up the instance for us, and we should be playing around in the product soon, hopefully. I just wanted to thank you for working on this new build. We have really benefited from the past Concerto versions. Great work!

Thanks,
Patrick
