Looking for a little help, as I have searched the forums and the web
with no avail. I have everything setup and working now with the
exception of the screensaver. This I can not get to work with our own
feed. It does work with the RPI Feed and it sees our server as it
try's to load but then comes back with the message please connect to
the internet before using this screensaver for the first time. I have
tried multiple ways to get this to work. If someone who has had any
luck with getting this to work could possibly shed some light on this
I would be greatly appreciative.

Thanks
Jonathan

Hi Jonathan,

It will display that message if you haven't selected feeds in the screensaver's settings menu, or if the feeds don't have graphical content.  Since you got it to work with RPI's server, I would check to make sure you have graphic content on the feeds you've selected. Hope that helps.

Zach,

I appreciate your response, the feed that I am pointing to does in fact have graphic content as it is working on the digital signs themselves. It is only in the screensaver it is not functioning. I believe that this would possibly be because of where it is trying to look but I am not sure where to edit this path. Should it be done on the server side or the client side?

Zach,

There is content on the selected feed, have even created a separate
feed just for testing purpose and have loaded only graphical images
onto it and still no joy. Like I said it is trying but not finding
anything, so i am sure its probably a path issue just not sure where
to check to correct it.

Jonathan,

The server address can be configured in the screen saver settings menu by clicking on settings after selecting Concerto from the drop-down list.  after entering the server address (ie. path.to.your.server.com/), click load and you should get a list of feeds in your system

Right and it loads all of my feeds and when I select the feed with the proper content it attempts to load it but then says connect to the internet first

I think I misread your email.   This discussion has troubleshooting instructions to figure out if the content isn't loading correctly (manually checking the RSS that is returned), as well as a potential solution.

I was thinking it is either the rss url or the rules set. Can u instruct on how to manually check the rss that i am supposed to be using.

To look at the RSS the screensaver is downloading, look at the contents of http://your.installation/content/render/?source=screensaver&type=graphics&select_id=<feed id number>.  You'll want to change that feed id number to the ID of the feed you're subscribing too (you can find this in the web admin interface by looking at the URLs).  For comparison, a screensaver at RPI might download a list of content for a feed from this URL: http://signage.rpi.edu/content/render/?source=screensaver&type=graphics&select_id=1.  Under each item, both the URLs for the enclosure and media:content parameters should end in file_ext=.jpg.  If not, you should edit line 273 of content/render/api/009.php to look like the one at the link

Also, make sure mod_rewrite is installed by looking for it in the output of phpinfo.
