Subject: The Parker House/ New City Hall

I hope everybody had a fantastic weekend and that you took at least  a few minutes to honor our fallen soldiers!!!!!

The City was notified last Wednesday that "restoration" of the Parker House was not financially feasible.    Therefore they have awarded the City $544,000 to rebuild!       However, instead of discussing what kind of building would best suit the City's needs...the Mayor has stated they are still going to build the Parker House back, making only minor interior changes.
In fact, the plans are going to be approved in a meeting with the architect TOMORROW!!!!

The City has a new opportunity to build any kind of building ---a building that will now suit the exact needs of the City and yet they choose to build a replica of the Parker House.      A building that will house the 7 City employees and that's all.

A few months ago the City was willing to purchase the Superior Bank building on Hwy 98 to temporarily house the police department.
Now they have an opportunity to build a building that will allow the police department a permanent location with the City Hall and yet they choose not to do that.

I, and several others have contacted the City Councilmen today to request a postponement of the meeting with the architect for a couple of weeks to discuss the possibility of a different kind of building design.   Tanya Castro, who is taking the place of Councilman Gary Woodham, has already asked the Mayor and City Administrator for this postponement but it fell on deaf ears!!

Please, I am pleading with you......if you have a few minutes tonight or bright and early tomorrow morning, could you please just make a phone call to one of the elected officials below and just ask them to take a step back, postpone the meeting, and re-group to see if the Parker House design is actually the best design for the new City Hall.

All I ask is that we just take another look.......with citizen input...as to what will best suit the City's needs.

Thank you for your time....please don't hesitate to call me with any questions, concerns!
