Hi Property owners of MB - This is Joe Bush

I have received so many emails concerning the LEGAL BATTLE against the City over the sub-dividing of our lot back in 2005 that I have decided to bring all of you TAX PAYERS of MEXICO BEACH up-to-date since the City has already spent OVER $60K FOR THEIR SPECIAL LAND USE ATTORNEY BASED IN TALLAHASSEE.
On August 31, 2011, the District Court of Appeal First District, State of Florida issued their opinion on Case D10-5843,   JOE BUSH AND MARY BUSH........(petitioners)   v.   CITY OF MEXICO BEACH........(respondent).

The full document is attached for your review.  It is very easy to understand and takes only 5 minutes to read.
All 3 Court of Appeal Judges CONCUR  and our PETITION WAS GRANTED.  We won this BATTLE but the WAR is not over yet.  As you know, WAR COSTS $$$MONEY, YOUR MONEY, MY MONEY (I'm also a tax payer) but I was taught to FIGHT FOR WHAT YOU BELIEVE IN AND FOR YOUR RIGHTS AND NEVER NEVER GIVE UP.
So, I hope you voice your opinion to the City on the over $60k spent to date and more of your tax $$$$ that will be spent to continue in the future if the City decides to pursue a rehearing .... even if you are in favor and support this spending of your tax dollars, voice your opinion to the City, after all its YOUR MONEY.
I thank all of you that have sent us support thru emails, phones, and in person.

By the way, doesn't the sidewalk look great.  I have never seen and met so many new people while they are walking their pet or riding bikes.  I met one man who was somewhat amazed at my excitement over the sidewalk, he said I thought you were against the sidewalk.....oh no, I WAS AGAINST THE PLACING OF THE SIDEWALK 22 FEET FROM THE EDGE OF THE ROAD AS THE PLAN SHOWED IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE.   I never gave up the fight on the placement and now that the sidewalk is only 8 feet from the road,we are very pleased with the out come and Mary and I enjoy it just as much as anyone.
HAVE A GREAT WEEK AND THANKS FOR BEING A CONCERNED CITIZEN.
JOE and MARY BUSH
310 HWY 98...................please stop by and visit us anytime.

-----Original Message----- I'm glad things turned out ok for you.  We were concerned about the sidewalk also but it has turned out to be a good thing.  We are parttime residents but we have also met a lot of people out walking.  We've met neighbors we probably wouldn't of met without the sidewalks.

Congratulations Joe. I'm so glad for you. And yes, the sidewalks have proven to be an asset for Mexico Beach--one of the few things they have done right by actually utilizing input from the residents.

Sorry I can't write a letter for you since I am no longer a property owner down there but many years ago my husband and I fought for 8 years vs. money and politics to maintain waterfront ownership on our 16th St. property which stopped the El Governor from building a sewage disposal plant on their campground. It cost us dearly but we also believed in fighting for what we believed was right. I hope this is the end result for you and that the city doesn't waste more taxpayer money. Common sense seems in short supply down there.
