WOW...thank you for so many replies on our Law Suit and the support.  As one citizen stated, I am not so much supporting YOU, I don't know you personally, But I am tired of Mexico Beach spending money like it's 2003 again.  Did you see this week's issue of The Star Paper,  MEXICO BEACH IS THE  ONLY TAXING GOVERNMENT AGENCY IN BAY COUNTY THAT HAS PROPOSED RAISING THE MILLAGE RATE, THIS WILL BE THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW !!!

 

The City has a workshop scheduled for this Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 4pm.  They will be discussing Budget amendments, water rate increases, need money for repairs on the dredge, need money for repairs on the fire truck, and update on A 2005 LAWSUIT INVOLVING THE CITY CONCERNING LOT SPLIT.

Property owners, we must stop the unnecessary spending in Mexico Beach.  Repairs on the fire truck is a no brainer, but another water increase, more repairs on the NEW DREDGE, and hiring a special land use attorney from Tallahassee at $200 an hour that has cost over $60K so far and now they may do a retrial ????

As some of you out of state property owners requested, below are phone numbers and email addresses that you can use to voice your concerns about the only city in the county raising the millage rate for the second year in a row.  I encourage you all to take 3 minutes to call or email or fax a simple....STOP THE UNNECESSARY SPENDING , WE THE TAX PAYERS ARE HAVING TO CUT OUR BUDGET, THE CITY MUST DO THE SAME.  WHY ARE WE PAYING FOR AN OUT OF AREA ATTORNEY WHEN WE HAVE A FULL TIME CITY ATTORNEY,  WHY NOT USE OUR OWN ATTORNEY AND SAVE THE TAX PAYERS THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS.

CALL:  City Hall ... 850 648-5700 or fax 850 648-8768:  ASK FOR THE CITY MANAGER.  IF HE'S NOT THERE, TELL THE RECEPTIONIST YOU ARE AGAINST HIRING THE SPECIAL ATTORNEY AND SPENDING MORE MONEY THAN NECESSARY, SHE CAN PASS IT ON TO THE CITY MANAGER...AND/OR EMAIL ANY OF THE FOLLOWING:

Anybody know why the Electric Utility Tax is going up from $18000.00 in 2011 to $102,063.00 in 2012? That's a 576% increase.
