Mayor's Traveling Town Halls
Town Halls are an excellent opportunity for residents to connect with local leaders, ask questions, and stay in the know about city projects. The first Town Hall is coming up on Monday, February 3, in Council District 1 at Summit Elementary. BPD Chief Diekhoff and Councilmember Isabel Piedmont-Smith will join Mayor Kerry Thomson.
Future Town Halls in 2025:
- 4/7 District 2 at Banneker Community Center
- 6/2 District 3 at University Elementary School
- 8/4 District 4 at Morgenstern's Books & Café
- 10/6 District 5 at Jackson Creek Middle School
- 12/1 District 6 at Monroe County Pubic Library Downtown
Downtown Community Cleanup
Last fall, with the help of over 100 volunteers, the City held a community cleanup day to spruce up our downtown by picking up litter, pulling weeds, and enhancing the beauty of public spaces for both residents and visitors. This spring we're doing it again ahead of IU's graduation. The event will be held on Monday, May 5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is a great community building opportunity for individuals, families, local businesses, or community groups. Everyone is welcome to join in this day of service and fun!
Residents Academy
Are you dying to know more about the inner workings of the City? Did you make a New Year's resolution to get more involved in the community? If you answered "yes" to either of these questions (and even if you answered "no"), the Residents Academy might be right up your alley!
This annual 11-week class will be held on Thursdays from August 14 to October 23, 6-8 p.m. Check out our website for details and apply today!
As always, HAND is here to support and uplift Bloomington neighborhoods. Please reach out if you have questions or concerns. Looking forward to a bright and blooming 2025!
Best,
Angela
