This is my biggest feature/bug request. It takes a lot of search, clicks and effort to just resume what I was hearing in my last android auto session. For short ride, or during busy driving a lot of times it is not worth the effort to fumble though the navigation to find the old episodes and resume.
My Auto-Start is turned off in my pandora app but it still automatically turns on when connecting to Android Auto. I also have the continue to play music function within my Android Auto app turned off. I don't understand why it keeps running.
If you have the latest update, you will now see the settings cog at the bottom of the screen. Select settings, then scroll down to start music automatically and turn that off. This resolved for my 16 silverado
Mine does that too. It's very frustrating. I'll shut it down on my phone after it auto starts and it'll keep popping up on android auto and turn off my radio station. I have it turned off in the settings also. It shows on my phone too in the media output with no clear way to turn that off either.
I just bought a new 2023 Chevy Silverado truck and now whenever I get in the truck - the Pandora app on my Google Pixel 6 starts automatically. On my previous 2019 Silverado truck, never a problem. I can switch the infotainment (radio) to FM, but often, it switches back to Pandora. I have gone into the Pandora settings and turned OFF the switch that allows automatic start up, doesn't help. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Pandora App. What else can I do as this is very annoying.
Hi, I'm having this issue as well. Auto start is off on the car and enable launch from car is disabled on the app. Every time I get in the car Pandora starts up. It doesn't play unless I hit play but it loads and interrupts the car radio.
2022 blazer. Same issue here with Android auto. Funny thing is, it never happened until I chose to launch Pandora from the Android auto screen instead of from my phone app. Now every time I turn on my car Pandora starts with no way to turn it off.
2018 Maxima - same issue here... Except that using any media through Android Auto now causes Pandora to open automatically when connected... I tried playing a movie on my phone via HBO max while waiting at my daughter's bus stop, via Android Auto, which didn't work. After that, Pandora opens up every time I connect via USB and it changes the media source, requiring me to switch back to whatever it was on before, such as FM or Sirius..
Same issue. Two different vehicles, same Galaxy S9 phone. One stock Pioneer the other an after market Alpine. Listening to FM or XM and then connect my phone for navigation with Android Auto, Pandora changes the media source to itself, requiring me to switch back to XM, then go back to the map. I usually don't listen to Pandora in my car but have started to recently and nearly every time I have it on, my Android Auto now randomly disconnects and I need to unplug and replug in my phone and wait for it to reconnect with my phone, then have to hit continue on my phone, then wait for the map to reload.... extremely frustrating especially when needing directions while driving in traffic. I realize this is an Android Auto issue but seems to be directly related to listening to Pandora as it has never and does not happen when Pandora is not playing.
I have the same issue. I have tried all the settings you provided. I even went I to developer mode and tried. Still does not work. I am uninstalling Panadora until the issue is fix. How do I get an alerts on the fix?
I just bought a new 2022 Silverado & am having the same issue. I'm thinking of uninstalling Pandora but would rather not. I still listen to it sometimes, just not everytime, as soon as I get in my truck. I really think it's a Chevy/radio problem, though, because my Audible app does the same thing if I used it last instead of Pandora.
I have the same issue. Galaxy s23 ultra with a 2020 ram 1500 and android auto. Pandora self starts everytime. I have the launch from car turned off in the android app and in the android auto app I have start music automatically turned off.. how can we get this fixed. I listen to pay Dora occasionally but mainly Sirius xm your parents company that comes through the truck but Pandora starts everytime with android auto
Pandora is always left open running in background after using Android Auto, and will begin to play as soon as the phone syncs to any other Bluetooth device unless a Force Stop is used to terminate it. I have found the only solution is to have the Android Auto Pandora Screen on the display when disconnecting the phone and/or turning off the car. If Android Auto has anything else on screen when exiting the car, i.e. Waze, Google Maps, etc.. Pandora seems to miss the signal to Stop and Close. Has been this way for over a year and hoping my input can help find a solution if there is not one already, thanks!
Rubeus - I've have the same issue with Pandora/Android Auto (2018 Silverado paired with Note 10+) since getting the truck. The only consistent method I've found is to restart the phone after disconnecting from the truck, turning off the truck, etc. I would be appreciative of a more app-based solution.
Following....this is so annoying and has led me to YouTube Music until it can be fixed. Two minutes or so after I walk away from my truck my purse starts blasting music, often in inappropriate places.
Yeah, I've been with Pandora since it's Beta in 2005. Been paying for it since 2010. I don't know where the breakdown is, but it's across multie android devices. Eyeballing the effort to try other options...
Any actual resolution? I have had two cars (one OEM system and one not) and two different Android phones with this same issue. I can't swipe the app closed and have to use "force stop" in the app settings. Surely in the past two and a half years since this was originally posted there has been some solution, right?
Same issue as described above, on both my 2019 Honda Ridgeline and wife's 2018 Honda Pilot with both Pixel 6 & 7 Pro. This is one of many issues experienced between Honda and Android Auto. Like others have commented, I may ditch Pandora until they resolve this. It's been years.
I actually figured out a way to close Pandora on my Android. On the notifications screen, look for the Pandora song that's playing and just swipe left. That shuts it off. Sometimes you have to do it a couple of times, but it does work.
We are testing out the GlobalProtect for Android app on our Chromebooks. I am able to push out the app via the Google Admin Console and the app connects fine via SSO/SAML to our portal and gateway. The problem is the app will not auto start after it is deployed to the client Chromebook. If the user of the Chromebook manually opens the GlobalProtect app on the Chromebook the GP app will start > auto authenticate SSO via SAML and connect to the gateway but t is only after the user manually opens the GP app will GP auto start and auto connect every time the user logs on to the Chromebook. I am assuming this is because the GP app downloads its config/settings from the portal the first time it connects and then sets itself to be Always On. Is there a work around to get the app to auto start immediately after it is installed onto the Chromebook via the Google Admin Console? I read through this article
I have tested the Always On setting in the Google Admin console with SAML and it doesn't work because that setting does not allow any internet access until the VPN is connected. I also have tested the Always On Google Admin Console setting via a LDAP service account. I supply the service account's username and password in the JSON values of the app in Google Admin Console. This works but it takes about 30 seconds to a minute for the VPN to connect on the Chromebook and during that 30 seconds to a minute the user has no internet. This is a work around but it is still not a complete solution if you ask me. I wish there was some way via JSON values to tell GlobalProtect to start as soon as it is installed and be Always On without the need to set the Always On setting in the Google Admin console. This is the way it works on Windows via msi package parameters. Wish Palo can get this working on Chrome OS.
I am comparing this behavior to that of Google Podcasts, the app that will stop functioning in 2 days. Whenever I run that app in Android Auto, it will automatically refresh the list of podcasts without any intervention.
I have the expectation that podcast apps would automatically refresh their listing of podcasts, when connected to Android Auto. Is this not the case? Is Google Podcast some sort of unique app that has this behavior?
No. I use PocketCasts only on my Android phone. The same phone is plugged into Android Auto. There is never a refresh of podcasts initiated from Android Auto. Whatever podcasts were on the phone the last time I ran the app (could be days or weeks ago) are the only podcasts available.
Google Podcasts, and their current implentation on Youtube Music, will immediately refresh the latest podcasts after opening up their Android Auto connection. I am searching for a podcast app that mimics this behavior.
Android Auto worked on my 2019 Honda CR-V on USB cable and Motorola wireless adapter with my S-23 Ultra just fine. S-24 Ultra it does not work at all with either cable or adapter. Screen comes up and says connect USB cable but does not recognize the connection. Adapter shows loading on CR-V screen but never loads. Is this function now just totally broken?
I should add that I have tried multiple 6" high grade 10 gb cables, cleared cash and data and all of the other suggestions I could find on the net and it still does not work. S-23 with 6.0 UI works perfectly. S-24 with 6.1 does not work at all. Both with Android 14.
