Hi People,

Sincerely I wish to downgrade my Sony Viao NR11z, from current Vista home to Windows Xp sps 2.
The moment I started Windows xp setup, after pressing f8 to agree to xp terms, the next step is to Check any HDD available. Apparently, thats where I hit a wall!! I cannt proceed since it says NO HARD DISK FOUND. On bios, its clear that I have 200GB hdd.

What should do to continue with Xp setup??

Oh, Windows XP (old version) setup doesnt offer driver for SATA drives. So, its better to use XP- service pack rather than unpatched versions...
If you dont have one, try the following :
1. Get a disk and load the sata driver for your harddisk (you can get it from sony or from hdd manufacturer)
2. In the setup screen, Right after the "Press any key to boot from CD" screen, it says something like
press F6 to load additional drivers. Press F6, and it will keep going.
Put the disk and it will be read...
3. Thats all.....

I hope it works for you.... Please let me know..

Hi Karunanithi,

Thx for your response.
In your email you say" . Get a disk and load the sata driver for your harddisk " Do you mean a CD Disk or a Hard Disk, Please elaborate.

Thanks.

Im not sure how it works with XP however, for a 2003Server i had to attach an external floppy to install the SATA driver. If you have the driver just try the things that work best for you first. If you have an old computer that has a floppy drive, this way should work. Also make sure to select the appropriate settings in bios for your hw config.

it needs SATA drivers to be install.

Create SATA drivers Floppy.
Start windows XP installation.
Press F6 as the process starts.
it will ask floppy to install sata drivers.
use USB FDD external

hope this could resolve the issue.

Best of luck
