Professional Bit of Kit

Just purchased and installed the Chief MWR. As stated, this is a professional piece of equipment, I used it to mount a 54-inch Panasonic G10 Plasma screen in my bedroom. The screen weighs almost 90 pounds. The materials and construction of this mount are exceptional, but the instructions leave a great deal to be desired. This kit seems to be aimed at the professional market, and that is certainly reflected in the build quality.
Several install tips, although the Chief comes with an impressive hardware kit, it is a "universal" mount and I did have to head to my garage more than once to find washers that were not included in the mount kit. Also, do not assume you have studs on 16-in centers. Mine were at 17-inches and this was at the very limit of what this mount can handle. Measure before you buy. Finally, the mount is highly adjustable, and you will have to do a great deal of measuring, adjusting, and remeasuring the mount so it is exactly centered on the wall
where you want it. Once you lift that TV and "hang" it on the mount, you don't want to have to take the TV off the mount again and make fine adjustments. If you simply "center" the mount between two studs, the actual center of your TV will be about 6 inches off. The mount is very easy to adjust to make up that 6-inches, but you want to make that adjustment BEFORE you hang the TV. Also, don't assume the center of the mount will be the center of your TV. On my Panasonic, the mounting lugs are at the bottom third of the TV, not in the center. Ultimately this install is a bit like playing chess, you need to think 2-3 steps ahead. All of this could be fixed with a better set of instructions. Bottom line, It is an excellent mount, swing arm is fantastic, and the mount is rock-solid, no regrets, but installation is non-trivial.
