Better than expected

This HDTV is even more beautiful in person than on pictures. I didn't expect this.
The original TV box it came in was in another box with support corners and about 2 inches of an air gap between each wall. Boxed with precaution in mind, it seems.
Pros:
Looks awesome, very slick and does not stand out like a sore thumb.
Picture quality is great, not the best contrast ratio, but definitely good. Blacks are black enough, and it's bright where it needs to be.
The built in swivel stand pivots to about 25 degrees in either direction, and holds very firmly so that it wont change on bump or lots of cables pulling. Pivots very smooth too, no grinding or sudden-slip feel.
The view angle distortion of colors is non-existent, picture is the same from any angle.
Cons:
Button layout on the remote isn't common. Took me a lot of uses to get used to it. Seems somewhat upside down for control keys.
Two HDMIs, one RCA, and one S-video are on
the left -side- of the unit within 2 inches of frontal visibility. So if you plan to use those ports, expects to see a good portion of the cabling sticking out from the side.
Remote feels a bit cheap. But with an HDTV this good for only 500, I couldn't care less about remote quality.
Overall I'd give this TV a 5 star for best bang for the buck. But a 4.5 star for 42inch LCD HDTV quality if money isn't factored in.
