I am working on a site called "Ask W1z111" (say "wizzeee"). I'm using
Google Sites; and the address is:
http://sites.google.com/site/askw1z111/.

The site was initially setup as an interactive adjunct tool for a
local Senior Center class I teach on "Computer & Internet Use". The
class is a small group of senior citizens who wish to learn more about
the wonders and enriching promise that computers and the Internet hold
out to all who understand their power and depth of capabilities.

Many of the "students" in the class have only recently acquired their
first computers; often as gifts from their children, or even their
grandchildren! I certainly give these folks a whole lot of credit for
launching out on their quest for knowledge and understanding of the
modern world!

Indeed, I, myself, am in the 'senior' category; though a bit younger
than most of my 'students'. That said, I find the class experience
rewarding on several levels; and building an interactive website to
allow the seniors to input computer and Internet related questions at
any time; and not have to wait until the weekly class, seemed a
logical step toward bringing them closer to understanding and being
comfortable with using today's tools and technology to their own best
advantage.

Whether their intent is to learn the basics of some of the commonly
used software; or learn about transferring pictures from cameras to
computers; or learn about various tips and helps for searching
effectively on the Internet; or any other computer and Internet
related topics, the senior 'students' are all eager to learn, and are
quick to grasp most of the concepts and protocols behind the complex
and complicated machinations of all-things-digital-and-electronic,
that are responsible for driving and powering computers and the
Internet!

Using Google Sites allows me to embed some linked Google Documents
(spreadsheets, input forms, presentations, and more) directly into the
Ask W1z111 site; thereby giving me full editing and updating; which is
how 'students' receive the Ask W1z111 answers to their questions. Of
course, this means they won't get their answers in 'real-time', but I
do try to answer them as soon as I can; and I check the site
frequently to see if anything is waiting for my input.
