Dear colleagues,
I just wanted to quickly express my appreciation for this project and everyone working on it.
I've met Jan almost two years ago in Seoul, when he held a workshop on stylometry and using 'stylo' at Yonsei University. It was the most fun workshop I attended during my 2 years of study here, but also absolutely fascinating to hear about the concept of distant reading, that was completely new to me back then. I remember asking Jan about the possibility of using stylo to analyze TV series and adaptations, I felt greatly inspired.
With my department being rather conservative in terms of research and me having a literature program to finish, sadly, I couldn't really dedicate time to learn more about stylo. However, as I'm preparing to apply for a PhD program in Hungary and starting to work on my research proposal, this will hopefully change very soon.
And that's exactly why I was delighted to read Joanna's article (
http://www.digitalhumanities.org/dhq/vol/14/4/000499/000499.html) on Doctor Who that explored this topic brilliantly and raised very interesting questions. Having research done on the topic of my interest will be so helpful. Thank you, Joanna, for this paper and congratulations! Same goes for everyone involved.
I hope to being able to contribute to the field in the near future as well.
All the best,
Gabor Patkos
