Call for applications:

PreFer is a data challenge for Predicting Fertility outcomes in the Netherlands. It is one of the first data challenges in the social sciences. In this data challenge, participants will predict who will have a child in the next three years based on both panel survey data and administrative data. It is a unique opportunity to quantify how well we can predict an important life outcome and to increase our understanding of it.

The challenge will take place in April-September 2024. We invite anyone interested in computational social science, data science, demography, and family sociology to participate.

What's in it for you? Potentially eternal glory and perhaps more substantively a co-authorship on the community paper and/or a paper in a special issue.

For more information on the data challenge, you can visit the website preferdatachallenge.nl and/or read the preprint.

The data challenge is organised by the Department of Sociology at the University of Groningen, ODISSEI, Eyra, and Centerdata.

We look forward to your participation!
