The Ai Music Generation Challenge 2021 Stages 2 & 3 results

Congratulations to Luca Casini (team Växjö)! 6 of the 9 randomly selected tunes from Växjö were among the judges favorites, and their selected tune was an honorable mention. For winning first prize, Luca Casini is invited to take part in the MUSAiC Festival 2022 (Nov. 22-24, https://musaiclab.wordpress.com/musaic-festival-2022/), all expenses paid.

All (5 human) judges were very happy and positive to be a part of this process. Some mentioned they felt a personality behind groups of the tunes, as if they came from the same AI. Some said many of the tunes sound and play authentic. One judge mentioned that some tunes sound a little British. A few judges said they would be delighted to incorporate some of the tunes into their own repertoire. 

Next up! We take some of the judge’s favorite tunes to a folk music school in Stockholm: https://www.folkmusikhuset.se/ 

1. A judge will teach one of these tunes to the public in a “tune cottage”.

2. Judges will perform some of these tunes for a group of dancers, who will then select their favorite tune (Stage 4)

Finally, a panel about this challenge will be organized at the MUSAiC Festival 2022 (https://musaiclab.wordpress.com/musaic-festival-2022/), with tunes performed by the judges. Luca Casini is invited to take part in that panel to discuss his experience in the challenge.
