Customers in remote areas BEWARE!

They will only give me the rebate if I pay $6.00/ hour to connect!!!!!

I am posting this message out of frustration. I saw all of the hype about
the Compuserve $400.00 rebate program. I called them before purchasing a
new computer and asked about availability in my area. They gave me a local
number in my city and suggested where to buy the computer online. I
received the computer and tried to sign up for the service to get my rebate,
that is where my problems began.

It seems that the local number they gave me charges a surcharge of
$6.00/hour. It is a local number but it transfers you to a globelnet
network. That is where the charge comes from.

They do have a local number without the surcharges in my area but that
number does not qualify for the rebate.

It seems that the access number they gave me is also the access number for
AOL, I know that AOL charges in my area and that is why I don't use them.
It would have been nice if they had told me this in the beginning.

Upon calling their customer service to confirm all of this I was given no
less than 4 different 800 numbers to call then told someone would get back
to me. Three days later they did call me only to say they were sorry and it
was not their fault.

As far as I am concerned their customer service is awful, everyone you talk
to gives you a different response. They are not aware of their own policies
and they need to learn the importance of customer care.
