So the AppleTV 4.4.3 update finally added Netflix for Mexico and it works fine, except for one little problem: When I tried to watch a movie, the language was set to "Portuguese", when I usually have it set to "English" when I watch it on the web. How can I change the language and subtitles so they reflect on AppleTV?
press up button in the apple remote during playback. screen apears with info about the movie and then you have to press the select button for more options. then you can select subtitle and language within the movie.
I have the same problem: can't change language/subtitle settings for Netflix Mexico. When I click on the centre button of the remote, it just pauses the movie/tv programme. Are you getting a language options menu when you click on the centre button?
I really wanted to love Netflix Mexico, but I don't at the moment. Hopefully there will be another update soon which adds a bit of consistency - at least a language/subtitle options menu for all movies. By playing around I've found that if you press at the top of the black ring on the remote, a box comes up with a short description of the film and occasionally it says hold the centre button for options. If it doesn't say that then you just have to watch the movie in Brazilian Portuguese and make up your own dialogue.
I'm having the same problem here. However neither the center button nor the up button +select solutions work for me. Those options just pause a movie that has several language options on PS3. Are there any other options or settings that you changed?
I'm having the same problem - in fact I am getting all the movies in English, but there are some which I would like to have in Spanish (for the kids mostly). I have verified on my machine that the movie has a Spanish soundtrack, but when I press and hold the middle button on the Apple TV, all I get is a menu to change the subtitles, but I cannot find where to change the audio. I have also tried changing my default language in Netflix, to no avail.
Have you tried in the Apple TV Settings menu, under Audio, to set the Language and Subtitles options to the desired language? I currently have English as the default Language (it was set to auto) and Spanish as the Subtitles. Yesterday I was watching something on Netflix and the subtitles appeared automatically without using the remote. Of course this may depend on the availability of audio/subtitles Netflix offers.
I am having issues setting the Audio Language in the Netflix App, for exaple in "the hunt fo the red octuber", through the website I can set up the audio language to English, Portuguese and Spanish, and the subtitles to Spanish and Portuguese, but in Apple TV 2 the Audio Language is always set to Portuguese, disregarding the Apple TV configuration which is Audio: English and Subtitles: Spanish. I also tried changing it to Default, but teh result was no different.
I've tried every suggestion posted here . . . the bottom line is, there is no language changing option, only subtitle. I think this is an issue that has to be fixed asap. I keep getting all the movies in portugese even after I change the audio & video options and the general language, and the same movie can be changed in my ps3, because it does have that option. This is getting ridiculous, it's a major bug that I feel is getting no attention . . .
Yeah, so far I have read a thousand forums, and follow every instruction posted. But for some reason, I think this is not happening to everyone or a lot of people at least, because I can't really find many posts of people complaining about this issue!
Here are two replies you might find helpful, but the gist of it is that it might not be able to revert to your language settings choices (regardless of being a pro user), but the LR team is working on solutions:
Is there any way to make the Audio and Subtitles settings in Netflix permanent? I hate having to set those every time I want to watch something on there. The WDTV box has these settings under Setup; is there no way for Netflix app to read those settings and apply them automatically?
There is a way. Go to PC and log into your acct. Select BEST QUALTY from your viewing preferences, and it will try to give you the best picture and sound. I use this and I NEVER have to make any seleciton for audio or video, anything in HD or DD 5.1 plays in that format.
Relatively few movies on Netflix are DD5.1 (mostly TV shows).Even HD is a small subset (relative) to the entire collection here. I was recently watching a mini-series of 12 episodes which was all HD and DD5.1 over several days, and never had to select video or audio settings.
when browsing Netflix shows on the X1 DVR --It starts playing the next episode -- even whne just trying to re description when still on screen that shows options For "episode 1" or "More Episodes" etc... Whay does the X1 box not recognize the Netflix settings to NOT AUTOPLAY ?
So using X1 Xfinity box, we can NOT turn OFF Netflix Autoplay ? When we are browsing, and trying to get more information about a show/movie/etc - it should NOT Autoplay! It may not be family friendly for everyone in the room ! because this is the time I have to explore or research programs for a future family night or someting, The movie I want to just read more about should NOT start playing. Also because now all of these things come up in your "Continue Watching" list or "Because you watched" recommendations... a few years ago, Netflix had an issue with accounts "storage" fillingup if you quit did not watch all the way to the end of credits or whatever - it save the 99% of the movie so you could resume it later..so with this Autoplay, it appears to save all this data for stuff I am not even interested in
Hi everyone. Sorry if this is done to death already but I'm struggling to find anything finite or concrete. Firstly I should clarify that I'm using the latest Netflix App on my A1 which has latest firmware. I have a good strong internet connection badged at 100mb but never drops below 29mb.
Trouble is, picture is terrible for predominantly dark scenes.... any dark areas sort of solarise into a blotchy mess. Gloomy scenes in likes of Daredevil and that new Haunted House show are unwatchable. I have managed to improve things a bit fiddling with the various picture ssttings but given there are literally 1000s of combinations I was wondering if someone had managed to find a decent picture set-up.
It's ridiculous I can get a better Netflix picture viewing in HD via my Humax PVR and I'm hugely disappointed that Sony and Netlix can't pull together and sort out a decent "auto" picture between them for these expensive OLED sets.
Hill House on netflix in Dolby Vision is awful. The Black Levels are grey, the contrast is so bad like when you would turn up the gamma more than maximum, colors are washed out and i get such a huge light bloom effect that even goes over the movie cache areas.
i think there is definately a software issue here with netflix dolby vision as other hdr movies in google play run perfect. pitch dark blacks, high contrast, great colors, bright whites, no light blooming in dark areas, only with dolby vision on netflix.
I know this is an old thread, but I have the exact same problems on the sony ag8. Any dolby vision content looks awful. on the internal netflix and the xbox one x, especially dark scenes. As soon as switch it to HDR, the picture quality is so much better. I wish o could switch dolby vision off in the tv menu.
I will try the default colour tempreture of warm 2 later. However not only dolby vision content looks bad, I also get a lot of artifacts in the black letter box bars. I don't understand how sony can implement a feature in tv which does not work properly and not let you switch it off.
Of course everyone can use settings which he likes, but I personally from a professional perspective can just 100% recommend against using these totally random settings, that don't have any relation to standards and working Sony TV settings.
The washed out effect on the Sony TV is simply related to a Dolby Vision profile for this TV.as this TV is not an OLED, it's not supposed to be used in a complete dark surrounding, as you will see light bloom from the local dimming LCD lights. If you watch the Dolby Vision movies in a normal dimmed room like daylight or normal room lights, the washed out effect is near to none. It depends on each movie or series how they were meant to look like.
Many formats are using slightly raised black levels, that's not an Error of the Sony TV, but a technical limitation of the used lcd-led hardware compared to OLED. If you want to watch in the dark, buy an OLED Sony TV. You will be presented with another Dolby Vision profile for darker blacks on these TVs.
To achieve a better picture nonetheless with the XF900, turn down the black level in the picture-> brightness options to 47 or 48. About 4 to 6 % of the dark areas will be cut off, but 3-5% are usually only used for camera black distortion and won't matter anyway. Any value below that will most likely give you wrong colours in dark areas like a dark green on surfaces depending on the grading style.
