Welcome to the guide to Bosch Dishwasher Error Codes. This comprehensive list is designed to provide you with detailed explanations and solutions for a wide range of error codes that your Bosch dishwasher might display. Running into problems with your dishwasher can be frustrating, but we're here to help you understand what these codes mean and how to troubleshoot them effectively.
Dishwashers are used on a regular basis which means that limescale can build up quickly, especially in hard water areas. To help your dishwasher work efficiently and effectively, and to ensure your dishes come out clean, regular descaling is important.
Remove and wash the filter under running water with mild soap and a soft brush to remove debris then reinstall. You can find the full instructions on how to clean your dishwasher filter here. To learn more, view our 'How to Clean Your Dishwasher Filter' video on our How-to Video page
2. The drain pump may be blocked. The pump is located at the bottom of the dishwasher underneath the filter. First, remove the filter completely to reveal the drain pump cover. Next, pry off the pump cover with a spoon until it clicks. Grip the cover and pull upward until you feel resistance. Then pull forward to remove the cover completely. Check the pump and remove any debris and standing water with a sponge. Use caution as some debris may be sharp. If needed, review your owner's manual for more specific instructions.
1. Check the inlet hose and make sure it isn't kinked or damaged.
2. Make sure the water supply is turned on. The water flow rate should be 10 l/min.

Outside of error codes, there are additional symbols on Bosch dishwashers that indicate your appliance is experiencing an issue that needs attention. Here are some tips on troubleshooting error symbols you might encounter on your appliance:
If your Bosch dishwasher is beeping, there are multiple possible causes, and these issues are usually signaled by the number of beeps. Some common causes of your dishwasher beeping are the end of cycle notification, an improperly closed door, or drainage issues. Oftentimes, these beeps will be accompanied by another error code in this guide.
Clearing an error code on a Bosch dishwasher can typically be done by resetting the dishwasher. The process can vary slightly depending on the specific model of your Bosch dishwasher, but the general steps to attempt a reset are as follows:
1. Turn Off the Power: Begin by turning off the dishwasher. You can do this either by pressing the power button on the dishwasher or by shutting off the power at the circuit breaker for a minute. Turning off the power will force the dishwasher to reset.
2. Wait: After you have turned off the dishwasher, wait approximately 1 minute. This pause allows the dishwasher's electrical components to discharge and can help in clearing error codes.
4. Run a Test Cycle: After the dishwasher has been reset, run a short test cycle without any dishes in the dishwasher to ensure that the error code has been cleared and the appliance is functioning correctly.
1. Turn Off the Power: Begin by turning off the dishwasher. You can do this either by pressing the power button on the dishwasher or by shutting off the power at the circuit breaker for a minute. Turning off the power will force the dishwasher to reset.

Many appliances, such as Bosch dishwashers, provide error codes. Each error code is specific to a dishwasher malfunction. So, you can fix your dishwasher just by finding out what the error code means.
Many people find the codes difficult to interpret because they have random numbers and letters. With the Bosch dishwasher codes, the E stands for error, and the number is a reference for the problem. Hence, the number will direct you to what the problem is.
Like most manufacturers, Bosch will update their error codes from time to time. For instance, newer models may have a slightly different list of error codes. Therefore, keeping your appliance manual is essential because it will list all of the error codes that apply directly to your dishwasher. But if you get stuck, you can refer to their website.
However, it would also be helpful to ensure there is no water pooling in the bottom of the dishwasher. To resolve this, you may need to tilt the dishwasher at a 45-degree angle. Doing so will help the water to drain when the dishwasher is switched off. Afterward, allow it to dry for one day.
However, even if it were possible, overriding the error code is not recommended. The error codes are warning signs and signify that the dishwasher needs repairing. Therefore, they have an important purpose, and if you see an error code, you should try to fix the problem rather than ignore it.
Depending on the type of error code, you might be able to use the dishwasher. But again, Bosch does not recommend using the dishwasher until the problem is resolved, as this could cause further damage to your appliance.
Additionally, you may find that the dishwasher is functioning less optimally when the error code is present. For example, you may notice watermarks on your glassware or residue on your plates and cups. The dishes and dishwasher may also start to smell, or a bad odor could linger in your kitchen.
It is very comlicated at this time to set it up. Requiring additional software and some other knowledge.
I recommend to wait until Installcodes are implemented into the Phoscon App which is already in the making.
In the meantime I got some help on discord and managed to get the sensor running. I use the deconz docker container for that. I needed to (1) connect the sensor and (2) compile the most recent version of deconz-rest-api since the last release did not support the sensor yet.
My procedure is as follows:
I found this thread on a google search because I had problems with my Bosch Thermostat II too.
I just want to add, that it is not necessary to compile a dev version anymore and the issuing a PUT request part is quite easy with Home Assistant.
It also worked for me, without the part setting the coordinators MAC via VNC.
So here is how I managed it with Home Assistant using the deconz integration and deconz docker 2.23.01:
Bosch SHXM78W55N/01 (Super Silence Plus 42 dBa). Purchased in 2017. No issues previously but suddenly stopped functioning. "Add Salt" and "Rinse Aid" continuously blink on control panel. The On/Off button will beep but doesn't do anything. No other buttons (cycle selection, etc) are functional. A hard reset cannot be performed because none of the buttons work. I've reset power at the breaker numerous times. Talked to Bosch and the lady on the phone (not a technician) indicated her system says it could be a "sensor". Can't get someone out here until much later in January and would love to have it fixed sooner since we're dealing with a newborn here.
The other thread indicated the purchased their part from PartsDr website for the exact same issue, but their links aren't applicable to my model. I found this power control unit for my model on their site. Does anyone know if this is what I need to correct this problem? Looks relatively easy to replace once I pull the dishwasher from the cabinet.
Thank you - unfortunately Bosch tried to have me do that but the start button doesn't function at all. In fact, none of the buttons do anything except the "On/Off" button still makes an audible beep though it doesn't actually turn the unit on or off. So I don't believe I'm able to force a reset.
My Bosch dishwasher required a new Main Board (Power Control Unit on back right where cord connects) and Display Board (the component w/ function buttons in the door). The likely culprit was a 'brown out' or power event that essentially ruined the boards. I plan to install a whole home surge protector.
Symptoms: Dishwasher abruptly stopped functioning and only flashed "Add Salt" and "Rinse Aid" repeatedly on display. None of the buttons functioned so the unit could not be reset and I could not pull error codes. Turning on/off at the breaker had no effect.
