The Opportunity:
Working at the company you would be a key member of a diverse, dynamic team, with a lot of creative freedom and a lot of challenging problems to solve.
You will work with public institutions, NGO’s and private sector companies alike to deliver creative solutions for open ended crop breeding problems, aiming to assist our stakeholders working on genetic improvement of crops and animals (non-GMO).
Through technology you will get to contribute to the alleviation of poverty by increasing food security in some of the worlds most vulnerable communities.
You will leverage new technology and create exciting projects, to fully use the creative freedom you are given.
You will also contribute to and maintain existing software products, many of which are open source.
You will have opportunities to travel internationally to engage with stakeholders; through mediums such as design sessions, training workshops and hackathon’s.
Lastly, you will communicate with and support non-technical users. Through this you will get to see the tangible benefits of your work where it counts.

Essential Criteria
- 2 or more years Java experience in a production scenario;
- Full stack design experience;
- Object Orientated Design experience;
- Experience with Spring Boot, JPA, Gradle;
- Firm understanding of API / API Integration;
- Ability to communicate and engage non-technical stakeholders;
Desirable Criteria
- Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Maths, Engineering or similar discipline;
- Experience in Android app development;
- Experience using eclipse IDE;
- Sound skill in SQL and DB design;
- Sound skill in Python and or R;
- Sound skill in HTML, CSS, AngularJS;
Non-essential but very desirable criteria:
- Previous experience with software commercialisation, and product rollout;
- Education or experience in Agriculture related field;
- Education or experience in biological sciences;
- Education or experience in electronics and telecommunications;
You will have the option to work from Kenya, but for a start they will fly you to Canberra( Australia) for few months to get acquainted with the company.
