YūichiKatagiri was taught the value of friendship when he was young, and it is thanks to his group of four friends that he is able to enjoy high school life today. When their class's school trip funds are stolen, the five are dragged into the mysterious Tomodachi Game as a result of someone's debt. The friendship of the five will be put to the ultimate test against the promise of wealth there.

Tomodachi Game, conceptualized by Mikoto Yamaguchi and illustrated by Yuki Sato, started serialization in Kodansha's Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine on December 9, 2013.[13] Kodansha has collected its chapters into individual tankōbon volumes. The first volume was released on April 9, 2014.[14] As of May 9, 2024, 25 volumes have been released.[15] In May 2024, it was announced that the manga is set to end with its 26th volume.[16]

In June 2022, another television drama adaptation produced by TV Asahi, titled Tomodachi Game R4, was announced. It was directed by Takurо̄ Oikawa, Hajime Takezono, and Toshiaki Kamada, with screenplays by Takuji Higuchi and Shinya Hokimoto, and Yoshinori Nakamura composing the music. The series features members of the Johnny's Jr. boybands, HiHi Jets and Bishonen as cast members. It was broadcast for eight episodes on TV Asahi from July 23 to September 10, 2022.[5][43]

In November 2021, it was announced that the series would receive an anime television series adaptation by Okuruto Noboru. It is directed by Hirofumi Ogura and written by Kenta Ihara, with Satomi Miyazaki designing the characters, Michiru composing the music, and Hiroto Morishita directing the sound at Studio Mausu.[2] The series aired from April 6 to June 22, 2022, on NTV's AnichU [ja] programming block and other channels.[a] The opening theme song is "Double Shuffle" by Nana Mizuki, while the ending theme song is "Tomoshibi" by saji.[46][47] Crunchyroll licensed the series outside of Asia.[48] Medialink licensed the series in Southeast Asia and began streaming it exclusively on Disney+/Disney+ Hotstar in May 2022.[49]

Tomodachi Game is a newly anticipated anime adaptation of Mikoto Yamaguchi and Yuuki Satou's original manga. Published in 2013, Tomodachi Game is a psychological thriller, much like Yamaguchi's manga, Dead Tube, which was released a year following Tomodachi Game manga.

Tomodachi Game's adaptation premiered on April 6, 2022, and has thus far released its first two suspenseful episodes. The series is relatively fast-paced and instantly throws the viewers into a stream of mind games. Tomodachi Game opens with an introduction of the main character.

Tomodachi Game follows the story of Katagiri Yuichi, a second-year high-school student whose family is distinctly recognized as financially unstable. Despite this, he is depicted as a relatively bright and easygoing young man who is especially loyal to his small group of friends. This is why Yuichi takes a delivery job to save up 70,000 to join them on next month's school trip. The series officially introduces Yuichi's group of friends early on: Makoto Shibe, the class president whose family is quite wealthy; Shiho Sawaragi, the vice class president, who is known to be dependable and meticulous; Tenji Mikasa, who is exceptionally intelligent; and Yutori Kokorogi, a sweet girl who has been the victim of bullying in the past.

Following this introduction, Sawaragi and Shibe announce to the class that the money (a sum of 2 million yen) has gone missing and promptly apologize, seeing as they are the ones who have been responsible for collecting the funds for the school trip. Both friends claim they don't know how it disappeared or who stole it, but they take the blame, anyway, seeing as it was their responsibility to keep it safe. They plead to the class for the thief to come forward, but no one ever does. A couple of days pass before Yuichi receives a letter apparently from Sawaragi, instructing him to meet her at the school gate that night at 11:00 pm. Concerned, Yuichi rushes to meet her, but instead of finding her alone, he discovers his whole friend group at the meetup site after they also received a letter. After it is revealed that she, in fact, did not send him the letter, the group is tasered and kidnapped. When they wake up, they find themselves in a white room.

Suddenly, a figure makes an appearance, which the series introduces as Manabu-kun, a character from a dark anime where his role is to steal from children. Manabu explains to Yuichi and his friends that someone from the group accumulated a debt of 20 million yen and that the only way to deal with this debt is to play a series of games together. The group is reluctant until Manabu informs them that if they don't participate in this game, each group member will have a debt of 20 million yen to repay. This is when it is revealed to the group that one of their friends betrayed them by stealing the 2 million yen from the school trip fund for the game's entry fee, and has also accumulated this debt. However, the culprit remains a mystery, and it is up to Yuichi to determine which one of his friends is the traitor.

The first game is called Kokkuri-san. The participants must place a finger on the large coin in the middle of the 'board' and push the coin towards the answer they think is correct. If everyone gets the answer right, they move on. However, if only one person opposes, the board will select the minority. Whoever successfully clears the game erases their debt. The first three participants play their turns. Although they ask particularly easy questions, it seems that someone is sabotaging the rest by choosing the minority answer because it ends up being incorrect.

The second episode picks up right where the first left off. Following the previous episode's events, Yuichi's behavior accumulates him double his debt, but he accepts this for the sake of his friend.

The next game is called 'Bad-Mouth Sugoroku' and centers on bad-mouthing each other. Participants are required to bad-mouth someone on a card (or leave it blank) and submit it privately. The group initially agrees to keep the cards blank to preserve their loyalty to one another, and it is briefly successful. However, this is disregarded when people begin submitting written cards, revealing secrets to the group. These revelations create conflict between the friends as their loyalty is further challenged. Episode 2 ends on a cliffhanger.

The anime predominantly centers on challenging the loyalty of a close group of friends while simultaneously engaging the audience through lies and mysteries. As the show progresses, it uncovers the friend group's secrets and history to pit them against one another. Yuichi makes it quite clear that he would do anything for his friends. However, if there is anything to take away from the first two episodes of this anime, it's that everyone is a suspect.

NOTE: This page is solely for the residents of Vineland Island. Any other characters should go on the main characters page. Islanders introduced in Episode 28 and after go on this page.

Character artwork by Fretless. QR Codes are available for most characters, but a few have gone unreleased. Any that have been recreated for this page are marked with "Replica". Replicas will not share the same tastes in clothing or food as Vinny's.

Examples for Does Not Like Spam and Trademark Favorite Food are for the North American version of Tomodachi Life. Some of the listed examples may not be available if one of the QR Codes listed below is scanned into a copy of the game from a different region.

Vinny's Mii, a young man with an easygoing attitude. No matter how bad things seem to be going for him, he never lets it get him down. It should be noted that Vinny very rarely refers to himself and Vinesauce as separate characters, instead opting to refer to Vinesauce as 'myself'.

Adaptation Name Change: His Tomodachi Collection counterpart is named Vinny, being named after his look-alike instead of the stream. Age Lift: He was born a day before his look-alike, since Vinny wanted the date to match the stream's anniversary and not his actual birthday, though Vinny chose his real year of birth instead of the year the stream was started (2010), since Vinny still wanted his Mii to be about the same age as himself instead of being a child. His Tomodachi Collection counterpart was born at the beginning of the following year. all lowercase letters: Every line in his song, with the exception of the first (which capitalizes the first letter), completely lacks capital letters. Author Avatar: Played with. Appearance-wise, it's inverted. Apparently Vinny looks like him. Personality-wise, it's subverted. Vinesauce is pretty different from Vinny in opinions, as seen by him initiating relationships with Alpaca and Balegdah, both islanders whom Vinny doesn't want anywhere near his in-game self. The Cameo: He appears as a resident in the apartment of the Tomodachi Life stage of Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and appears as a Mii Fighter, with Vinny playing as him. His head is pasted onto Bowser's in Super Mario Galaxy Repainted (complete with clips of Vinny's Bowser impression from Mario Party Island Tour). Vinny uses him as his Mii in Miitomo. His face appears on a bumper in that game's Miitomo Drop minigame when Fred streamed it. Catchphrase: He says "smeg" as his primary catchphrase. When he's mad: "That's beans." When he's depressed: "Good." Crossdresser: His Tomodachi Collection counterpart wears a schoolgirl uniform. He was once given a leopard shirt that came with feminine-looking shoes. Vinny didn't know it was women's clothing, but Vinesauce liked it anyway. Did Not Get the Girl: Every time he gets close to someone, they end up with someone else. Witch married Waluigi, Two Faced is unshakably faithful to Walrus (until she cheats on him with Donkey Kong), Alpaca was intercepted by Vinny himself, and Hamburger never got a chance to know him. When he tried to take initiative and propose to Balegdah, everything from the Scrumin' Birt to a motherfucking roller coaster derail got in the way, and Balegdah gets assimilated not long after. On the plus side, he seems to be in a stable relationship with Seabiscuit in Dimension Two and later got together with Cling On, though their marriage proposal also ran into various problems, including the return of Scrumin' Birt. Does Not Like Spam: Butter cookies are his worst and his worst ever is roast chicken. Gossipy Hens: He and Waluigi like to chat about other islanders during Guys' Hangout sessions. Intercourse with You: "Right Em' in the Wrong Hole", which was unintentionally shortened to "Right Em' in the Wrong Ho" in one occurrence of the name. Interspecies Romance: He wanted a relationship with Alpaca, but Vinny did not approve of it. Played straight with a human and a horse... until Isaac causes a rip in space time and causes Vinesauce and Seabiscuit never to hook up. Currently, it's a human and an alien. Mellow Fellow: His Tomodachi Collection counterpart is described as a laid-back guy by the game itself. No Export for You: invoked Some copies of the game cannot use his QR Code, presumably due to changes in the word filter causing the game to reject his catchphrase ("smeg"). Fortunately, Vinesauce viewer and fan artist Breadotop (who also created Lolly) ended up using a previously downloaded copy of the Mii to make a more usable QR Code, preserving the Mii's other traits (unlike a replica). O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Vinny knows Vinesauce's Tomodachi Collection counterpart is corrupted because he married Two Faced. At that point in the series, Two Faced was completely out of Vinesauce's league, and had revealed herself as being an undesirable person a few episodes ago (though whether that applies to her Collection counterpart or not isn't established). The Pollyanna: No matter how bad things seem to be going for him, he never lets it get him down. Production Throwback: His catchphrases aren't random nonsense. They're things you could actually expect Vinny to say during streams. Relationship Upgrade: After many relationships of his went sour throughout the series (one person only saw him as a friend and eventually became a bad person, one couldn't be with him because Vinny said so, one got separated from him via a dimensional split, and one got assimilated by aliens), he finally partners up with Cling On in Episode 50, and thanks to Southbird's efforts, Vinny doesn't try to ruin it. Whether they will tie the knot or not is yet to be seen. The Rock Star: He plays and sings rock music, not unlike the real Vinny, though he performs '50s rock and roll rather than something along the lines of the real Vinny's music. He started his music career with his hit single, "Right Em' In The Wrong Hole". He went on to form the band The Buvvins Brothers with Ralph as the bassist and himself as the guitarist and singer. Rouge Angles of Satin: His solo song, "Right Em' in the Wrong Hole", misspells "ride" as "right" in both the title and the lyrics. Rummage Sale Reject: Despite once declaring that Wario would get the worst clothes, Vinny has dressed his Mii in some ridiculous outfits.Vinny: Seriously, I need to stop making my character look like such a jabroni, I'm gonna make him look normal now. I mean, if I even can.[Gives him a safari explorer outfit] Sailor Fuku: He wears a schoolgirl uniform on the corrupted island. Either Ego or Steve gave it to him to troll Vinny. Stepford Smiler: Vinny suspects that his Mii is secretly depressed, but hides it from his friends. Sweet Tooth: He enjoys sugary foods. Vinny once commented that his Mii's diet is almost as bad as his own. Trademark Favorite Food: Cornflakes are his super all-time favorite and potato chips are his all-time favorite. Wackyland: One of his previous apartment designs was a cartoon house. Vinny commented that he's the most normal looking Mii on the island, and yet lives in the wackiest apartment (at least until Pee-wee, who was a much better fit for that interior, ended up in the same one). Wanton Cruelty to the Common Comma: "Right Em' in the Wrong Hole" has the apostrophe in "'em" in the wrong spot in the title. Your Mom: It's unknown whose mom he's referring to in "Right Em' in the Wrong Hole", but apparently she disgusts him to the point of making him want to flee the country.
