how to handle https requests?

I have a file I am serving from my public folder, it is a javascript that is dynamically inserted into other pages via the user clicking a bookmarklet.

When GET the file with https - for example https://localhost:3000/bookmarklet/bookmarklet.js

I get the message The connection to localhost:3000 was interrupted while the page was loading.

I suppose I need to configure ssl somehow, where and how do I do this?
