Green Apple Cleaners is sponsoring an initiative to provide 25 sets
of
apple trees to NYC gardens. First come, first served.

There are actually 2 trees--one Newtown Pippin and another apple
variety to pollinate (and eat).

They want to get the trees planted in the next two weeks.

Green Apple Cleaners has a limited number
remaining of 100 Newtown Pippin and other saplings the company is
donating to botanical gardens, neighborhood schools, community
gardens, environmental and health groups, and other public spaces to
restore this historic cultivar to NYC. Earth Day NY is partnering
with
Green Apple Cleaners, Slow Food NYC, the New York City Department of
Parks and Recreation, MillionTreesNYC, Sage American Kitchen, New
York
Restoration Project, and community groups in the Newtown Pippin
