Compose Melbourne [1] is a new functional programming conference focused on developing the community and bringing typed functional programming to a wider audience. It is a 2-day event being held in Melbourne, Australia on the 29th and 30th of August 2016. The first day features a single track of presentations followed by a second day of workshops and an unconference. It is the new sister-conference of the NY based Compose Conference.
The Compose Melbourne Committee [2] is excited to announce that Manuel Chakravarty [3] will be opening the first day of the conference! He will be speaking on "Playing with graphics and animations in Haskell".
We have also extended the Call For Presentations (CFP) so that it now closes on the 11th of July! We are very interested in any and all presentations that look to share the joy of functional programming with a diverse crowd and we particularly welcome presentations from people new to the field. So please join us in sharing functional programming with all!
RMIT has kindly booked in *both* days of the conference at their newly-developed Building 80, which has state-of-the-art conference facilities!
Finally, we are pleased to announce that REA [4] and SEEK [5] have joined on as sponsors, joining Silverpond, RMIT and YOW! in helping grow the functional programming community in Melbourne!
We look forward to seeing you at Compose Melbourne in August!
