Hi Composers!
I ended up with less time free today than I hoped, so I'm
doing this later than I planned.
Here attached is our quote from Charlie at The Bean Project, as
of early this week. It's scaled for 150 people. Like I said on
Slack, so long as we don't go over 160, we can get final numbers
to her by Sunday morning, and she can adjust the sizes
proportionally to fit (though it'd be polite to keep her updated
before then).
However, we do need to fix the shape of the menu by tomorrow.
It's pretty much like last year, but that we're going for some
hot food for lunch. For the current quoted menu, the hot food
doesn't have any vegan option (maybe the tikka pies have cheese
or something). Anyway, Charlie's found some other pies which
are vegan, GF and halal (though it think you get that
automatically with vegan), and we'll substitute those for the
tikka pies.
As you can see, the current quote is $3,899 for 150, and will
scale up and down with the final numbers.
If everybody's happy with this, menu and cost, then I'll lock it
in with Charlie tomorrow.
Also, Charlie said that they expect payment within 7 days, but
that's from when we get the invoice (which will be for the
actual final numbers). But she said that she'll be busy next
week, and probably won't be able to get the invoice to us until
later in the week. So, in practical terms, we'll have around 10
days post Compose to pay. So we can't all go on holidays,
especially those with dollar powers.
Oh, I'll mention here: I think first time we engaged TBP, we had
to pay a substantial deposit up-front (which I think is standard
practice). Second time (which was last year), Charlie said that
since we were good previous customers, she'd waive the deposit.
This year she didn't even mention the deposit. So I guess we
have on-going credibility. I just want us to make a mental note
that if we ever change caterers, we'll need to account for any
deposit in our cash flow. I'm not necessarily saying that we
stick with TBP forever, just that our reputation with them has
some very practical benefit, aside from the good karma. Myself,
I'm very happy with TPB. They're good to work with. On balance
they're good value. And being right there on site is a *big*
advantage.
