Creating a simple input widget

Hi,

Is it possible to create a replacement for a simple <input
type="text"> tag using complete UI?
The reason is I'd like to keep a simple look/feel for all elements on
a page using a Grid. Ideally the input would act the same as within a
Grid. I've searched the examples, read the docs, etc and can't see
anything other than a List replacement in the examples. A quick code
sample or link would be appreciated.
