Hello

I haven't used Compiere yet but I would want to give it a try. Is it
possible to install it on OS X and use MySQL?

Yes, it is possible to install Compiere on OS X, but not on MySQL.

Hi,
Is simplest way to try out and get a feel for Compiere is to use the Compuntu virtual machine. Just download the VMware Player (free) see links below:
http://www.vmware.com/products/player/
http://www.vmware.com/appliances/directory/160
Also see http://www.iku-ag.de/compiere/compuntu-eng.jsp for further description.

The best part is that this version runs the free and OSS Postgres, and has the manufacturing modules also.

Start the VMPlayer (a Linux or WIndows 2000 and above version, atleast 512 MB memory and about 5 GB free hard disk space, I ran it on a dual AMD 64 CPU, OK for learning/testing).

Note:
I do not know anyone who is using a virtual machine for production work. Would appreciate the group posting any information on that.

Hi, there is also a more recent Virtual Machine for Adempiere here:
http://www.vmware.com/vmtn/appliances/directory/661

Although is not the last Adempiere version (is growing fast) it can
serve for testing purposes.
