Windows Defender comes with a real-time protection feature, and if it is turned off, you cannot open or run the app. Also, a major chunk of features are associated with Real-Time protection. So we have to check and turn it on back.

A major reason why the Defender tends to act up is the conflicts due to third-party antivirus. So, to solve the problem, we can try to temporarily disable the third-party antivirus and check if the app works. Steps to temporarily disable antivirus are given below:

Windows operating system uses various services to run the functions and tasks smoothly. Similarly, the Defender uses the security service to roll out protection measures on your PC. We can try restarting the service to see if it resolves the problem.

SFC, abbreviated System File Checker, scans and restores the Windows system files for errors and corruptions. If any Windows files are responsible for the Microsoft Defender not working, an SFC scan may restore the original files.

Now, the SFC will start the system scan. This will take some time, and you have to wait until the verification reaches 100%. After that, close the CMD and check if the Windows Defender unexpected error is resolved.

Local Group Policy Editor lets you change the files in the OS. By accident or by another user, your system may have entirely turned off the Windows Defender in Group Policy. In some cases, even malware is capable of doing this. So, let's check the Group Policy and turn the Windows Defender back on.

You need to be a Windows 10 business user to make changes through the Group Policy Editor. But you can enable the Windows Defender using Windows Registry. Let us see how to change the Registry Editor to enable Windows Defender.

As we have discussed, if your Windows Defender is not turning on, your system is at risk of external threats. If the defender is not working, and you do not have an active antivirus plan, you may lose your data from virus or malware attacks. In such instances, the best way to protect your PC's data is to back up your system and restore it whenever needed. EaseUS Todo Backup, a free backup program, can help you.

It is a reliable backup tool with advanced backup solutions. Along with backing up your entire system, you can make bootable USB drives in case of virus or trojan attacks. You can use it to perform full, incremental and differential backups and save them in various locations. The following are some key features of this backup tool.

Apart from protecting from viruses and malware attacks, EaseUS Todo Backup can help keep your data safe in case of failing drives, physical damage, or any sudden emergency. Back up your data or computer now with EaseUS backup software to safeguard data from malware or virus threats.

Step 1. Launch EaseUS Todo Backup on your computer, and click Create Backup on the home screen and then hit the big question mark to select backup contents.

Step 3. Your Windows operating system information and all system related files and partitions will be automatically selected so you don't need to do any manual selection at this step. Next, you'll need to choose a location to save the system image backup by clicking the illustrated area.

Step 4. The backup location can be another local drive on your computer, an external hard drive, network, cloud or NAS. Generally, we recommend you use an external physical drive or cloud to preserve the system backup files.

Step 5. Customiztion settings like enabling an automatic backup schedule in daily, weekly, monthly, or upon an event, and making a differential and incremental backup are available in the Options button if you're interested. Click "Backup Now", and the Windows system backup process will begin. The completed backup task will display on the left side in a card style.

Another prevalent reason is downloading a third-party antivirus causes conflicts between each other and will stop the Microsoft Defender from turning on. If you are downloading any third-party antivirus like TotalAV, Norton, or McAfee, it is suggested to disable Windows Defender to run the security checks smoothly.

If you meet the Windows Defender not turning on error, you must fix it ASAP to avoid getting into trouble. Learn how to fix the Windows Defender not working or opening in the post and secure your data.

The best method is to back up your system to protect your PC from external threats or system crashes. Use EaseUS Todo Backup, a professional and free backup tool, to back up your data automatically. Download and try it!

It only delays the load of some Bitdefender graphics for a better response of Windows 10. The anti-malware engines are loaded automatically at boot from vsserv.exe. This is the main process of Bitdefender in charge of real-time protection.

I also had a same problem. But as mentioned by Alexandru_BD, Bitdefender won't load in system tray even after waiting for 10-15 mins. Later on I discovered that I had disabled Bitdefender VPN from autostart. This somehow prevented main interface as well from starting up. Once I enabled Bitdefender VPN in autostart, it started showing up in system tray upon boot.

I have the same problem. But the icon does not load even after an hour. Bitdefender agent is running and the system is protected. But I have no possibility to manage my settings or add and remove exceptions.

Interesting. I have recently been plagued with the same issue. I'm running Windows 11 build 19043.1766. Although the tray icon is missing, Task Mgr shows that Bitdefender is running. This seems to ONLY happen when I do a cold start. If I then do a restart, the icon magically appears.

Just realised that Bitdefender agent was disabled in startup apps and confirmed with BD support this is required for the security widget to display. I don't know how the app became disabled (widget was displaying OK "mostly") but I had (almost certainly) explicitly disabled the BD VPN app from startup (as I have an alternate VPN/no reason to use BD VPN)... Anyway, have reenabled the agent (which BD said was not required for security purposes but is needed for the security widget to display) and will see if that solution "sticks" over the next couple weeks.

It's the same icon as on the Dashboard, the Autopilot symbol, Autopilot Recommendations. Even though I needed a scan, it doesn't show it as a crisis in the system tray icon. Otherwise, I'm not sure why the other didn't have an arrow.

Jokes aside, that "spaceship" is indeed related to the autopilot and @Scott did a fine job making the connection. As long as the protection status is OK, it will be displayed like this. If something is disabled (e.g. one of the security modules), another thing appears next to the "B" icon, depending on what defenses are inactive.

This morning Bitdefender didn't start with my PC but I didn't realise until the Windows 10 security message showed on screen after about 10 minutes. If that message showed, surely Bitdefender was NOT working in the background?

You've also made logging in a real pain, especially when using 1Password password manager. Your PC interface will not allow 1Password to copy my password in. Is that because I've refused to use Bitdefender's password manager and you're annoyed at my decision?

1) Make sure that Bitdefender is installed and running properly. You can check this by opening the Bitdefender app and looking for the "Status" icon in the bottom right corner of the window. If the icon is green, Bitdefender is running properly. If the icon is red, Bitdefender is not running.

2) Make sure that Bitdefender is set to start on startup. You can check this by going to the "Settings" icon in the Bitdefender app and clicking on "General". Under "Startup", make sure that the "Start Bitdefender with Windows" option is checked.

3) If you have recently installed a new program or made changes to your computer's settings, it is possible that these changes have affected Bitdefender's ability to start on startup or show in the system tray. If you are not sure what might have caused the issue, you can try reversing the changes that you made or reinstalling Bitdefender.

"We're excited," Herdman said after training Friday. "There's a couple of things the front office has been working on for a long time. And we're pretty confident that it's going to be a good start to the window for us."

That's due primarily to the inability of Major League Soccer and the Canadian Premier League to settle on a date, with the CPL wanting it to open earlier (July 5) than MLS (July 18). Canada Soccer struck a compromise at July 12 with the U.S. going with July 18.

Toronto acquired Derrick Etienne Jr. on the final day of the primary transfer window in April, sending Atlanta up to US$375,00 in general allocation money to get a winger who has proved to be a valuable addition.

"At the moment we feel pretty confident we're at the finish line with a defender that we hope to formalize, finalize and announce early next week. Fingers crossed," said the GM. "We look forward to that because we do feel the player we're looking to secure will give us a big boost."

With big-spending Toronto currently having next to no salary cap room, there will have to be movement out the door. And Hernandez believes there will be more takers this season than last when the TFC finished last in the league at 4-20-10.

"Even though we have our challenges in this moment in time and we're in a tough stretch, there is a nice sample size of certain folks and individuals in our group who have done well by themselves and shown at different moments what they can do," he said.

"We are not in a position to be closed off to any conversation about anyone," he added. "There's certainly folks that have done well by themselves and would make it a longshot to be a conversation that we would want to move on from."
