I have working Win10 licneses. (this is NOT a licensing question). Creating install media from these ISOs with the Win7 DVD to USB tool. Only the Win10 Media Creatino tool works, but that doesn't have enterprise on it.

Background:I have Win10 Enterprise licenses in the volume license service center. I downloaded the ISOs, and used the old Windows 7 USB creation tool, but newer tablets do not see this installation or boot from it. The newer tablets see Win10 bootable USB sticks that are made from the Windows 10 Media Creation tool without any issues.

3. When the program opens, accept Microsoft's terms and conditions, then select Create installation media (USB flash drive, DVD, or ISO file) for another PC, and click Next.

You can also use the media tool to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10, following these instructions. After getting Windows 10 installed, here are some tips to help get you started. If reinstalling Windows 10 feels like too much, use these tips to troubleshoot and speed it up.

Anyone else try the Windows 10 media creation tool? It worked pretty seemlessly. I followed the instructions here https:/ Opens a new window/www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO and let it load on a new computer with wonodows 8. The problem is that it installed Windows 10 Home for some reason. I chose Windows 10 from the drop down on the page. We have licenses for Windows 7 & 8 pro on our VLSC account, not enterprise edition, so I thought this would work. Did I miss something? Also, it shows that it was activated already and I never had to enter a license key.

Thanks for the info. I used the link that I included in my original post and walked through the media creation on my Windows 10 Pro laptop that has one of my VL keys. When I booted from the USB that I created, it cleared the partitions then used the installer to create new partitions (I was testing to see if it would just create the standard 2 MBR partitions or create the different GPT partitions)

I have a laptop and a hard drive with windows on it, I want to use the drive but install a fresh copy of windows 10. The media creation tool to install Windows 10 won't detect any hard drives, I can hear the drive spin but they are not detected any ideas? Also, both hard drives have windows on them.

When installing a fresh copy of Windows 10, you typically use a USB flash drive to launch the "Windows Setup" wizard to continue the installation process. However, on a device that has a Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) instead of the legacy Basic Input/Output System (BIOS), it is crucial to use the correct media for the firmware type to complete the installation successfully.

If the Media Creation Tool does not work or you do not want to use it, then you can try Rufus, a popular free third-party tool that allows you to create an installation media with support for UEFI devices. The utility offers two ways to make the installation media, including using an existing ISO file or downloading the image from the Microsoft servers directly from the app.

When you have the USB boot media with support for UEFI systems, you can launch the "Windows Setup" wizard to perform a clean installation of Windows 10 or an in-place upgrade. However, since the "UEFI:NTFS bootloader" does not include a digital signature for secure boot, you must temporarily disable secure boot on the motherboard firmware before you can boot into the setup. Typically, you would do this from within the UEFI, which you can access by hitting one of the function keys (F1, F2, F3, F10, or F12), Esc, or the Delete key, as soon as you start the computer.

Unlike third-party software like Driver Booster Free and IObit Software Updater, Windows Media Creation Tool is available on the Microsoft Store. The primary focus of the program is to install the latest OS version and updates. In order to accomplish this goal, you need to run the program as an admin. Additionally, you need to accept the license terms and notices before choosing the specific action. With the tool, you can either create an installation media on USB or upgrade the PC.

Unlike other utility tools like Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool and Windows 10 ISO Tool, this one gives you more flexibility. As such, you can choose between 64-bit or 32-bit operating systems, preferred language, OS edition, and more. The program lets you manually make selections or provides recommended options for your PC. Once the installation process is complete, you can even save the file to an external hard disk.

The way it works is after installation, the Windows Media Creation tool enables you to create and copy a Windows install file (ISO file) into a blank USB flash drive, turning it into a bootable USB drive. You can do Windows reinstall or clean install using the installation media created by the Windows Media Creation tool.

The Windows Media Creation tool is also easy to use. With a user-friendly interface, you can just simply install the Windows installation file into an external drive, and turn it into a bootable installation USB drive in a few clicks.

To avoid any issues, make sure that you follow all of the step-by-step instructions during the installation media creation process. Pay attention to your internet connection and make sure that you have enough storage in the external drives especially.

Step 3. Select the language, Windows edition and architecture that you want to use for creating the installation media. You can also select the recommended options that would match your computer settings.

Rufus is an open-source application that is widely used for creating USB installation media from bootable files of Windows. The Rufus bootable USB feature helps users create USB installation media for various operating systems like Linux, UEFI and more. If you wish to create a Windows USB drive from Rufus, you would require a USB flash drive with a minimum of 8GB space and a downloaded ISO file of Windows. You must note that if your USB flash drive has data, it will be completely removed during the process. To create a bootable USB using Rufus, follow the steps mentioned below:

Step 2. Once the software is downloaded, select your USB flash drive under the Device option and then click the Select button to select the respective Windows 11/10/8.1/8/7 installation media.

Download and launch the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool. Once you launch the tool, it will walk you through the steps required to create the Windows media on a USB or DVD-R. Note: Even if you already have Windows 10 installed, it's a good idea to create bootable media anyway, just in case something goes wrong and you need to reinstall it.

Insert the Windows installation media you created into your computer and boot from it. How you do this depends on your computer, but most have a key you can press to initiate the boot menu. On a Dell PC for example, that key is F12. If the flash drive doesn't show up as an option, you may need to restart the computer. Sometimes it will show up only if you've inserted the media before turning on the computer. If you see a message like, "press any key to boot from the installation media," press a key. You should see the following screen. Select your language and keyboard style and click Next.

Whether it was already there or you worked through the steps above, at this point you have Windows installed. Now use the Ubuntu installation media you created earlier to boot into Ubuntu. Insert the media and boot your computer from it. Again, the exact sequence of keys to access the boot menu varies from one computer to another, so check your documentation if you're not sure. If all goes well, you see the following screen once the media finishes loading:

If you install Ubuntu or any other linux first and then install windows then you may need to install grub again or windows installation will make windows' bootloader as default bootloader and that will directly boot to windows without asking.

This method is for people running Linux, or another unix with GNOME, Nautilus, and GNOME Disks installed. Particularly, if you are using a distribution other than Fedora which does not support Flatpak, this may be the easiest available method. A standard installation of Fedora, or a standard GNOME installation of many other distributions, should be able to use this method. On Fedora, ensure the packages nautilus and gnome-disk-utility are installed. Similar graphical direct-write tools may be available for other desktops, or you may use the command-line direct write method.
