COMPASSION GARDEN NEWSLETTER
September
Currently happening at the garden:
• Fall is just around the corner but you would never notice it at the
garden. The garden is in full production mode! Just about everything
that was planted in the spring or early summer is now or has been
producing crops! You don’t need an invitation, come on out and see
for yourself.
• The turnout at the last garden workday was light but we accomplished
a lot. You can now see that we really do have baby Pak Choi, the
weeds in this particular bed put up a good fight but thanks to some
hard work the baby Pak Choi looks really good and is just about ready
to harvest.
• Speaking of harvesting, crops are being picked just about every
day. Most recently we have delivered corn, beans, squash, zucchini,
bell peppers, hot peppers and some tomatoes to the Milpitas food
pantry. It’s great to see that we are making a difference.
• FYI, this newsletter will be published once per month at the
beginning of each month until next spring when it will resume bi-
monthly publication.
Happening in the next couple of weeks:
• September is going to be an exciting month. We will be doing a lot
of harvesting during the month and our next workday is going to be
very special so if you have been thinking about getting involved with
the garden our next workday will be an excellent opportunity for you.
• Speaking of our next workday it is going to be special. It will be
Saturday September 26th. It will start at 3:00 PM, as it winds down
we will transition into a time of fellowship including a meal made of
our fresh veggies from the garden.
Looking further down the path:
• We know that watering a garden of this size is a huge undertaking.
We will be looking at alternative watering methods for next year.
