Here is my homework for today :-)

The following is from some tension I have in my mind about a heated conflict my former girlfriend and I had many months ago.  I guess I've done a good job of not processing it until now!

Exercise 1 (Me speaking to my former girlfriend)
1. Part of me feels pissed off (angry x's 5).
2. My experience is that I'm being yelled at as I'm trying to speak.
3. When I was a kid I would hide from my dad physically and by being quite because I was deathly afraid of him yelling at me.
4. I'd like to speak my perspective with regard to what we're talking about.
5. Are you willing to listen to my perspective without interrupting?

Exercise 2 (former girlfriend speaking to JP)
1. Part of me feels scared.
2. My experience is that I'm not being connected to emotionally right now.  All I hear is your intellectual story.
3. When I was younger men in my family would interact with me without any emotion, I'd feel alone and afraid because I didn't know how they felt about me.
4. I want to know how you're feeling right now.
5. Would you be willing to share with me how you're feeling?

Thanks for being a set of eyes to witness my process!  I look forward to reading yours (if its appropriate for you to share).
JP
