Never Settling
For many of us, Disclosure’s phenomenal debut, Settle, made us believe in dance music again. Or, if you were already hip to that scene, finally validated what you already knew - great dance music is NOT dead, and no one can deny a good grove and pulsing beats. Regardless of which camp you fall in, the return of the English duo has been a delight to us all. Their second collaboration with fellow world-dominating star Sam Smith builds upon the energy and sensuality of album one, and frankly – we can’t wait for the release of Caracal this September. Even more hot flash-inducing? They’re making their way to Echostage on October 21 st. Assemble the crew, set those alarms, and get hip to our presale info below. These tickets will burn away like they’re on fiyah; sleep on them, and you’ll feel like a pile of ashes.

Magical Mystery Tour
We were lucky enough to host Sparks at the Club in 2013, when the influential synth-pop underdogs proved their constant evolution, and that despite the years off the road, their energy and magnetism was operating at full force. It wasn’t long after that Franz Ferdinand cruised through Strathmore and reminded everyone that they, too, had enough swagger, sass, and electricity to keep us wired for weeks. The idea that these two bands (both influential in their own rights, and with endless style and iconic melodies) would join forces to form FFS, a wholly collaborative band playing original tunes, is simply mind-blowing (and certainly not to be missed). We’re sure that “covers” of your favorite hits from each will be present when the new unit plays at Lincoln Theatre this October. Securing your ticket with our presale will secure you a chance to say you saw this once in a lifetime one-two punch of wonderfully weird pop.

Repeat Stuff
This sweat-inducing, slow August heat has probably led you to many an evening indoors perusing Netflix with pals (or more likely, alone in your bed). If you’re like us, that means about a million repeat viewings of Bo Burnham’s what., where we have marveled at watching the young comedian pack a completely insane amount of comedy, music, and pretty intense production into one special. So, it comes as no surprise that we could not pack all you Bo lovers into ONE, or even TWO nights at Lincoln. Consider the third night we just added your last and final call to see the absurd and absurdly-charming Burnham self-deprecate, sing, and generally wreak havoc on our Theatre for his final evening in our city. We’ve already told you twice; don’t make us tell you again! Presale info is below - don’t you dare hit snooze.

The Australian Pink Floyd Show
Performing Pink Floyd’s music with “note for note perfection,” The Australian Pink Floyd Show is maybe the closest thing you’re going to get to the real rock legends in their heyday. We’ve made mention of their “stunning light and laser show, video animations, film projections on a circular screen, and other special effects,” one of which is an inflatable pink kangaroo. It’s even cooler than it sounds, as you can see via this photo of a recent Aussie Pink Floyd show. You could also spoil the fun and check out their insane setlists if you’re so inclined, but we’d prefer to be surprised when they put on their psychedelic spectacle at Lincoln Theatre this Saturday.

Something to Shout About
Most of us know Conor Oberst as the bare-it-all frontman of beloved indie folk outfit Bright Eyes, but his involvement with punk rockers Desaparecidos is a bit more under-the-radar. Perhaps it’s because the group disbanded in 2002 after touring for their debut album, Read Music/Speak Spanish, or perhaps it’s because the band is on the polar opposite end from Bright Eyes on the musical spectrum. All that matters now is that the tell-it-like-it-is, hard-lovin’ crew is back and better than ever. As this year’s Payola proves, Desaparecidos’ knack for doin’ things on their own terms, keepin’ it real, and raisin’ a ruckus about everything from politics to the music industry hasn’t changed one bit despite the thirteen-year hiatus. Whether you want to see Conor in rare form or want to headbang away your grievances, 9:30 is the place to be this Saturday night.

Bridget Kelly @ U Street Music Hall
Being the first stop on an artist’s tour is always an honor. Add brand-spankin’ new music from the artist into the mix and you’ve got the perfect recipe for an utterly special night. Luckily for us, just that type of memorability is in store when singer-songwriter Bridget Kelly kicks-off her upcoming string of dates at U Street Music Hall this Saturday. The pop/R&B songstress (who used to write for Kelly Clarkson and was on Roc Nation) just dropped her Summer of 17 EP today, making her soulful mark on our hearts as an independent musician. Hearing fresh tracks like “ Act Like That” before anyone else is a treat in and of itself, and an opportunity you do not want to miss.
Watch Bridget Kelly perform “ Special Delivery” in a live session.
