My C28 has a "Waterways Hull ID" plate, bearing the number AU-
WWA032775 BK7.
Can anyone please help me to decipher this?
Cheers, Graeme
I think the rest is just a serial type number.
C28 Ginsyl is AUWWA030798DA7 - unsure of issuing authority.
My fishing boat is AUWWA156060DU8 - issuer Empire Bay Marina, Central
Coast NSW. Issued last year.
Hope that is of some use.

Actually there will be two plates, one probably hidden below so that
when your boat is stolen you can prove ownership by knowing the
whereabouts of the second plate.
Its amazing how many Compasses are stolen in the late of night, placed
on a trailer and end up in a backyard for rebirthing.

But back to the chase - does no-one have any more info on the numbers,
where and by whom they were issued? Are they a gov't thing or some
private organisation?

The plates are your "Boatcode" all vessels need them to be sold, the
idea behind them is to prevent stolen vessel being re-birthed.
The number should also be on your boat registration papers.
