Merry Christmas folks;

My C28 has a "Waterways Hull ID" plate, bearing the number AU-
WWA032775 BK7.

Can anyone please help me to decipher this?

Cheers, Graeme

Not real clued up but can tell you that the "BK7" denotes the issuer
of the plate.

I think the rest is just a serial type number.

C28 Ginsyl is AUWWA030798DA7 - unsure of issuing authority.

My fishing boat is AUWWA156060DU8 - issuer Empire Bay Marina, Central
Coast NSW. Issued last year.

Hope that is of some use.

Cooee!

Sorry, "BK" is the issuer, the "7" is the year of issue.

The first few numbers are your tax file number,and the last half are
the state governments bank account.

Actually there will be two plates,one probably hidden below so that
when your boat is stolen you can prove ownership by knowing the
whereabouts of the second plate.

Its amazing how many Compasses are stolen in the late of night,placed
on a trailer and end up in a backyard for rebirthing.

You're right about the second plate = hogh up on the transom just
below the toe rail.

But back to the chase - does no-one have any more info on the numbers,
where and by whom they were issued? Are they a gov't thing or some
private organisation?

They are distributed by govt agencies - is yours a NSW Waterways
sticker? "BK" in NSW is Lifestyle Marine, Toronto.

Thanks Dave. I'm not sure if it's a NSW plate or not - will have a
closer look next outing and maybe try and contact Lifestyle Marine.

Cheers, Graeme

The plates are your "Boatcode" all vessels need them to be sold, the
idea behind them is to prevent stolen vessel being re-birthed.
The number should also be on your boat registration papers.

Graeme, what info are you looking for? More can be had from your
boat's rego number than from your boatcode.

That's interesting, If you look at NSW regos on the Register, all ours
start about 1989 when Nick Greiner slapped a Rego tax on us for the
first time.
