I have just completed replacing the 5KW unit with a 2KW unit. I put the heater behind the engine firewall with heater outlet to the starboard quarter berth thru’ the lazarette.
I can’t hear anything. The out let is 100 deg. with unit set at 15 deg.
The exhaust goes to port side about 500mm in front of the transom (beside the manual bilge pump outlet) up high with a goose neck bend.
I wrapped the exhaust with 2 layers of titanium heat resistant wrap.
I had to replace the glo plug as the heater would not start up.
The 5KW unit was way too hot even on setting 1. On 5 I was in Darwin.
And you must install a CO2 monitor – I used the Quell 10LLDCO, from Bunnings I think it was.
I spent another $300 on Australian Standards fuel line, valve, exhaust line, clamps, insulation, exhaust wrap & fed from main diesel tank.
I wrapped the heating outlet with 13mm thick Armaflex tubing.
Do not use the muffler inside as it leaks.
Actually I have not wrapped the very end of the exhaust yet. Will have to get some when I reach Sydney. None around here.
