looking at putting somes "sea legs" on a compass 29.  Has anyone done this or seen this ? just asking to try and find the best location to put the bracing on the sides will be.

haven't launched boat in water yet but will be handy to do jobs on boat when required like anodes etc...

this is the kinda idea here...

The first time I iretrievably put my C29 aground on a falling tide.  I panicked and got timber for props and bases to spread the load under the props.  All was well and Maeling floated off on the following tide.  Since then I have spoken to Don Lees who assured me that a C29 will pick herself up and rise with the tide before water goes into the cabin. Then about 3 years ago, I lost track of things with Maeling on the beach I use for scrubbing and polishing. On the falling tide Maeling found a groin of rock under the sand and wasn't going to be pushed back into the water.  Two other things, I was lucky that the rigging didn't foul the trees and can I say it is uncomfortable to try sleep on a boat while heeled over. PS the 25mm ridge under the coloured band is a good place for the props.  Have fun, but don't drop her.

yer the concept has alot of merit. from what ive seen for cleaning prop or checking anodes etc...
if one was to copper coat one could also clean there bottom with this practice.

its just deciding where the best location would be to place them.  im thinking maybe just in front of the mast.

Hi,

Sounds like a great idea, and I like the ones in the link you shared.

I would be wanting them in the middle of the keel, which is a good 1.2 to 1.5 aft of the mast on a 29.

I don't think the 29 falls on her nose (mine certainly doesn't but she also doesn't have a mast up yet), so I don't think you need to worry about holding her bow up.

Kind regards,
Greg.

After exhaustive testing and self examination, I can assure all C29 owners that a C29 will float before the tide gets to the companionway.  I have stood Maeling up vertically on 4 props from the colour stripe lip with a locker cover under the foot of the prop.

The prop mentioned is a 3x2 pine support not a revolving thingamy!

A c29 lying on its side is about as uncomfortable as you can get
Geoff
PS Thanks everyone for keeping this Group going
