Hi Guys,
We have a compass 28 & our tiller has seen better days!
Does anyone know of a second hand one or good shop Wright, that is reasonable?

 Kind Regards

Jacqui, I see you have not had a lot of replies to this one.  I am not surprised.  There used to be a marine teak accessory place at Brookvale (Caporns) but they closed a few years ago.  Now we have the SWI place at Mona Vale, but they are limiting their production and do not offer such standard products, so it appears you need to consider building one yourself, or have one custom made.
I made an emergency tiller for my C28 but made it straight.  Not so comfortable but it certainly worked as an emergency tiller, I used a 50 x 50 box section 3mm thick marine grade aluminium for the head because I wanted a full emergency tiller, at least you will not need that for a simple replacement.

I no longer have the pattern I took when I had my C28, but if you have your old tiller and can draw the outline on a sheet of cheap plywood, it is a good start.
I recall the root being 50mm x 50mm, so if you get strips of 55mm wide teak, perhaps 5mm thick, or you can also add some strips of holly as well for colour effect, you can easily laminate one then round it off, slim down the hand hold part to suit your delicate paw, sand and varnish.  If you can get the timber supplied cut into the strips, it only takes a few hours to laminate, then next day you can clean it up.
I doubt you will get 3mm thick, so that is why I say 5mm but check one piece first, it may not take the bend without a steambox.

Yes you could pay someone to make one but I doubt it will be cheap.
