They say the best days of yacht ownership are the day of purchase and the day of sale. I agree!!!
As I was using my Innovator 33 less and less over the past few years I decided to sell her on. So this is the first time in over a quarter century I have been yachtless!
Health as I have aged is the main reason for sale. Balance problems while single handed on a 33 foot yacht is not good. Ah well, I have had a lot of good times on Pisces, and I trust the new owner will keep Pisces in good order. I have tried to pass on 6 years of knowledge and experience in the few days we have had. Pisces will be living in Pittwater somewhere, on a mooring, when she is moved off my mooring in Greenwell Point, hopefully soon before the BSO gets upset.
I do not see myself getting another yacht, but will still be lurking round this site from time to time.
A  trailer power boat for fishing and pleasure, with a small cabin (I am accustomed to some shelter now!) and the ability to take home and maintain without a slip, is looking good.
Cheers
Michael

All the best Michael,
The Innovators are a truly unique boat and offer so much scope for cruising and comfort afloat.

If only our knees, backs and flexibility lasted as well as Compass boats many of us would still be "reaching" for a new horizon afloat.

I hope Pisces new custodians get to experience the many joys of sailing a well found boat.

regards
Roger and Janette

G'day Michael.

Sorry to hear that your I33 days have come to an end. The health genie hovers over us all so any days spent sailing are a true gift, despite the gales, the inevitable breakdowns and winds on the nose! We have clocked up 15 years now with DayDream, our I33 and whilst "The Admiral" can still helm a straight course & I can manage the sails we will continue until last anchor up.
Good luck with your future salty endeavors.
Col & Claire

I have had many good years on the water in Compass yachts. It is only the aging body systems that have prevented more. It looks like solod fibreglass, SS wire and old Yanmar motors stand up to the sun and sea better than blood bones and flesh!!
There is also the cost of keeping old systems running or replacement to newer items. Pisces is still running the Raymarine ST4000+ and I recently had to replace an old GPS chart plotter as it was no longer able to accurately read the satellites. I also have lost close access to a slip. The only one within 40nm is out of action for an indeterminate, i.e. long, time. Unable to get comprehensive insurance, and basic insurance is almost $1000pa. In the last 3 years Pisces has had to endure 5 major flood events, of witch the mooring dragged 3 times, did not separate, due to the amount of debris catching on the mooring rode. Spent $1000 in July to add a 3rd weight and a service. And to top it off, the only reliable mooring contractor sold up and left. The one left has the contract to do the government moorings/markers, from Hawksbury to Batemans Bay, so we come a distant 2nd.
So now when the wind blows, the rain buckets down for 3 days, a bottom needs a scrub and a mooring needs relocating I WON'T LOOSE ANY SLEEP. But I will miss the good days.
Yours Aye
Michael

Michael,
I read your story with a box of Kleenex tissues handy-it's all so sad as we all go that way.
I too really miss Mando though we do a bit of sailing in Queenscliff Vic on OP's. (keeps the costs down).
As most of our sailing was up and down the east coast of Tassie, I had to be fit enough to free a jammed halyard at
the top of the mast at sea and also remove weed/rope from around a errant propeller. I was at the stage where these actions were beyond me!!
Keep dreaming about the good old days and good luck with your next venture.
Kind Regards,
Maurice.

Sad news but you have had a good run,  I have a feeling we have not hear the last of Pisces adventures. We are all of an age.  Travel well.
