Here's some things I'd like to have on the compass website eventually, some of this is vaporware, but it won't be soon enough:

1. Homepage - value proposition, overview video, links to key resources, etc
2. Sass Language reference
3. Compass tutorials/videos
4. Framework references and tutorials
5. Plugin Directory
6. Lab - type sass and get css, use compass mixins. try before you buy.
7. Pixelations - This is a sass-based picture drawing tool that I've made but not yet released. It's pretty ridiculous, but fun. Create, save, and share your pictures as sass files and watch them update in real time.
8. Credits - links to author homepages, donors of time and resources to the compass project, etc.
9. View the styles of the site
10. Website directory - Links to sites that are built on compass.

As far as visual design goes, I'd like to convey clean, simple, slightly technical. Designers will be looking at this site and as a first impression, will judge the quality of the tool by the design.

The website should be a model of how to put compass and sass into practice. Clean semantic html, modular sass files, use of compass mixins, etc.

I'm happy to start with the home page now, but I thought I'd give my vision for the total site content first.

The screencasts should probably come in a few flavors. These are some
I'd like to see off the top of my head:
-- A Sass primer (the Sass primer in your video was a little long and
I was more interested in the Compass part of it)
-- Setting up Compass
-- The Basics; The Compass Core
-- Frameworks
-- Pimpy Fancyass Stuff (bring attention to the power of Sass via the
fractal generator. The title can be revised later, haha!)

Any others?

I'll take on the production of the screencasty-type stuff.

Oh, Chris... you should prolly add the [compass-devs] brackets to the
subject lines of this list too, heh...

I'm also setting up a dedicated Sass website. Some of this stuff
should definitely be in there - the Sass reference, for instance.

Sure. Happy to link offsite to a sass reference.

Sounds like a good collection of videos. I'd be happy to let you take the lead on producing them. I have a paid vimeo account where we can host them. maybe we can farm out the outlining of the contents and maybe some of the recording of them to those who are interested in lending a hand?

That's a good idea. Preferably those who wanna lend a hand on the videos should at least have a headset or external microphone. Built-in mics should be avoided, as it picks up the key strokes LOUD and the fan noises / HDD etc.

I also thought in addition to the Sass reference, we could have a
cookbook section that shows people how to solve common problems with
Sass + Compass.

How married are you to the logo? I like the general direction, but I
think we can also explore some alternatives.

Jared Hardy made that logo. I like it, but would entertain other design proposals within the context of total visual design of the new site.
