Denominator from a separate dataset

In clinical trial, we summarize the count and percentage of subjects by Adverse Events (AE) across the treatment groups. The percentage of AE would use number of treated subjects in the arm, which is calculated based on a separate dataset.

The nice examples of this package are based on a single dataset and the Big N is sum of records within the group variable. But this is not how AE is typically summarized.

Is there a way in this package to calculate count and percentage of subjects relative to the denominator from a separate dataset?

By now, It is not possible to display percentages where the denominator is not the sample size of the same data set.
