As mentioned above, we're building a new repository for motion planning datasets! It's become apparent we should start organizing a repo of datasets to use for benchmarking motion planning. Have suggestions on datasets we should include? Use this Google Form to let us know! https://forms.gle/LHrtmDpm82X4qrDk6
MotionBenchMaker (MBM) is an open-source benchmarking toolkit designed for robotic motion planning that lets users procedurally generate realistic motion-planning problems and datasets. It offers modular utilities—like a scene sampler for SE(3)/URDF-based variations, a problem generator that translates object-centric grasp or placement targets into full robot configurations, and conversion of scenes into both geometric and sensed representations. The package includes 40 prefabricated datasets spanning five common robots in eight environments and supports integrated benchmarking of planners from OMPL.
Many more additions are on their way as we still digest the material presented at ICRA, CVPR, and now RSS this week. Come across any new open-source products or benchmarking assets that should be added? Use this Google Form to let us know! https://forms.gle/LHrtmDpm82X4qrDk6
Events: Workshopsand Competitions for the upcoming IEEE International Conference on Automation Science and Engineering (CASE) 2025 to be held in Los Angeles, California, USA
Robotics: Science and Systems (RSS) 2025 is happening now in Los Angeles! The first day of workshops are over, so now we're onto the main conference program and Wednesday's workshops. Several members of the COMPARE Ecosystem project are attending the conference; get in contact with Adam Norton (Community Facilitator) if you'd like to meet up!
