COMPARE Ecosystem Digest, July 13, 2026

Hello COMPARErs! We’re in full swing of conference season with RSS starting today in Australia and UR later this week in Japan, followed swiftly by CASE next month in China, and then IROS in the USA after that. More conferences means more research being published, and with much of that research comes new open-source and benchmarking assets.

There’s a substantial amount of new material being released and the COMPARE Ecosystem could use some help! Not just in finding this new material, but integrating it into the various repositories on robot-manipulation.org. So with that, we are looking to recruit additional volunteers to maintain the COMPARE repositories! This task involves researching potential new entries – usually reading the corresponding paper or webpage – and characterizing them using the parameters defined in each repository, requiring some expertise of each type of asset (e.g., grasp planning, simulation, object datasets) and basic knowledge of Google Drive, specifically Google Sheets.

In doing so, you’ll gain an in-depth knowledge of the latest and greatest open-source and benchmarking research in robot manipulation, and we’ll feature your name as a maintainer on the website. It’s a great way to contribute back to the community! If you are interested in contributing to robot-manipulation.org by assisting with repository maintenance, please reach out to me, your humble COMPARE Community Facilitator, either via Slack message to Adam Norton or e-mail to compare....@gmail.com

To give you an idea of the work in the queue, the current set of assets awaiting integration into the COMPARE repositories are noted in each section below. Help us continue building this community resource together!

Until next time COMPARErs: keep yourselves (and your GPUs) cool! 🧊

Here’s what you may have missed and what’s coming up soon:

COMPARE is looking to recruit volunteers to assist with maintaining the open-source and benchmarking repositories on robot-manipulation.org (reach out if you’re interested in contributing!), new open-source hardware designs have been added, and RSS and UR are this week!

Benchmarking

💬 #benchmarking: The following benchmarking assets are awaiting integration into the COMPARE repositories; please reach out if you feel like lending a hand! 🤝

Physical Objects and Artifacts: POMDAR

Tools and Testbeds: RoboChallenge, UniVoxGen, TacBench, Tektonian Simulac, VLA-Replica

We are also working out a redesign of these repositories based on higher-level categories of benchmarking materials, such as simulation-based assets, physical testing materials, and remotely accessible testbeds. Stay tuned!
