Dear Companions,

I hope you will join us tomorrow for the second-to-last session in the Follow Me course.

Here we will go through the chapters 13-17 of John's Gospel.

The session is called "The New Commandment and Life in the Spirit". An overview, from the guide book:

Some of the apostles feel overwhelmed by the New Commandment Jesus gives in John 13:34: "Love one another ... as I have loved you". Even though we have sinned, Jesus loves us perfectly - totally, completely, and unconditionally, not expecting anything back. How can we possibly love our neighbor as Jesus has so perfectly loved us?

On our own, such a high standard of love would be impossible for us fallen sinners. But in today's session, we will see how Jesus promises to send his Holy Spirit, the Counselor, who will help us to do what we cannot do on our own. Jesus says the Spirit will dwell within us and help us remember Christ's teachings and bear witness to him. Most of all, the Spirit will take what belongs to Jesus and proclaim it to us. Let's now consider how that life in the Holy Spirit can transform our weak, fallen hearts and enable us to love one another with Christ's love radiating through us.

We will read some of the Gospel text together and reflect on this theme.

See you at 19:00!

Companions team
