"Does God heal today" - Alpha session 13

Hi all,

Tomorrow, we will meet for the session 13 of Alpha entitled: "Does God heal today?". This session will be an opportunity especially for those who have not experienced retreat to soak in the presence of the Holy Spirit. We will pray together, men with men and women with woman in discrete atmosphere. 

Sumi and I will make "pasta al fungi" for all of you that needs to be eaten warm so be punctual, please, come and show-up at 7 pm. 

I wanted to remind you that on the last Alpha session, on June 20, you are encouraged to bring along your friends or your family members, co-workers who would like to learn more about Companions and Alpha and explore what does it mean to be human, what is the meaning of their lives, suffering and joys. It is a good time now to start to invite others so that they can see firsthand what you were doing every Wednesday from the beginning of February. I will send a separate email you containing an invitation text that you may use and modify as you like.

This Wednesday, we will look into how can I share my faith, my excitement for the Lord with my friends, also in country where following Christ is sometimes seen as a sign of weakness or even a sign of backwardness. Please, think about events in your life when your faith came naturally in your conversation, attitude or was better manifested in your behaviour. Was there somebody who afterwards asked you about what you have done and why?

At 7 pm, we will enjoy dinner cooked by Ivy. I know that Tummas and Christopher are setting up today flowers and plants in church garden, so let's cheer them also up for doing this.

Hi everybody,

Time comes for our monthly cleaning of Saint Knud parish and a longer adoration on this Wednesday. We will spend more time with the Lord in silence after the Mass and right after dinner bring back parish hall to tidy and shiny state.

P.S. I thank all of you who prayed for my dad who was called to the Lord on last Monday. Sumi and I are still with our family in Gdansk and flying back to Denmark on Tuesday evening.

Hi everybody, 

On June 20, we will have Alpha celebration supper from 7 pm in our parish hall. This is an opportunity for all of you who attended Alpha to bring along your colleague, co-worker, a friend or your family member so that they can taste and see what you have been doing on last 14 Alpha sessions and whether Alpha course can be something relevant for them. Few of you asked me for a sample of invitation text for that evening and I pasted it below. You can modify it it as you wish. I think that normally, what worked for me was to talk to person whom you intend to invite and then seeing his or her willingness, send an email with the actual invitation and practical details. What is always most appealing is your personal experience, what you gained what changed in your life though Alpha weeks - you should thus replace my experience with yours. This is what speaks to man's heart and cannot be debated.

We need to know how many guests will come with you to make proper amount of food and bring few bottles of wine. 

Those of you who are part of CAYAC, or are at this mailing list, are also invited to join Alpha celebration supper. 

The text that I used towards my colleagues from Novozymes is following:

Hi there,

Would you like to come for a dinner in a church where Sumi and I attend, called "Alpha: Questions of life?" We are completing Alpha course where people from many countries and walks of life asked questions: what is the meaning of the life. It was done over a period of 10 Wednesdays including one weekend. At the end, we invite our friends to join us for a dinner with wine, short DVD and personal sharing of experiences of how was Alpha for them and what they learned. This course opened my eyes and I did it in Japan in 2008 with Sumi and since then our marriage and relationship was brought to a deeper, more intimate and more meaningful level. During the Alpha course, I discovered the meaning of my desire, suffering and friendship. I also could see how Christianity answers the hunger for meaning that is aching in my heart. 

 

The event is on June 20 in Lyngby at 7 pm and will last until 21:30 at the following address:

Saint Knud Lavard kirke, parish hall, Lyngbygårdsvej 1A, 2800 Kongens Lyngby

Please, enter through the gate that leads to the garden where you will see us. 

 

Please, let me know if you are willing to "Come and see!" and join me and my wife. You can come along with your wife/husband, girl-/or boyfriend. Just let me know if you are coming to prepare good amount of healthy food including Asian delicacies.

 

…and fear not, I will not pursue you if you do not answer this invitation or you choose not to come. I respect you and your freedom. It is just a small opportunity for me to share with you something that was and is relevant to my life.

Tomorrow, we are meeting for the last Alpha session (14) from the course. We will look into what is the church, why do we need each other in our faith journey, and why Jesus established the church. 

As usual, our dinner will be served at 7 pm and tomorrow, we will keep in-doors as it was very chilly already last week. Monique will treat us with a French-Senegal cuisine. 

On June 20, we will hold ALPHA celebration supper where you can bring your invited guests. I will give you more practical information about it.

FYI: Father Alren will be with us for the last time, as he leaves for holidays.

Dear All, 

Tomorrow, at 7 pm we will hold Alpha celebration supper with your invited guests. Before coming, pray for people whom you invited so that they can see Christ in our gathering and be drawn to Him. 

As we discussed last week please, follow these points for the Alpha celebration supper evening:

1) Stay with your guests, make them comfortable, introduce them to the rest of the group, show the way to toilettes downstairs 

2) Upon arrival, guide your guests to name tag table.

3) Sit around your guests at the dinner table.

4) We agreed to no faith-related or religion-like discussions during the dinner. The meal is a time to be genuinely interested in life of your guests, make them at ease, and comfortable.

There is no prayer before the meal tomorrow. I kindly ask especially those of you who do not stay normally for sharing or for DVD session to respect that.

Dinner will be longer tomorrow and will include wine and chocolate, so sit back and relax. Steve will take care of time and give us a signal to move to DVD room.

4) We move together to the DVD room.

5) There is no sharing after the movie, but instead, I will invite 2-3 persons for testimonies on what you learned during Alpha and what was your experience during the course. Please, think about these 14 passed sessions.

6) Dispatch to home no later than at 21:30.

P.S. There was barely any money contribution during last three dinners. Please, could you make up for that on the last Alpha. The Companions Team count on your generosity. Thank you very much.

Hi everybody, 

Tomorrow is the 2nd Wednesday of July thus this is our cleaning time of the parish hall. Right after Holy Mass and adoration with father Paul, we will have a dinner at 7 pm and later on move to wipe the floors in the most frequented room. As usual, after the cleaning, we have some sharing time that oddly enough is quite deep on the days of cleaning, as if our physical giving fuelled our souls with more openness. 

We hope to meet David's girlfriend (Ajay, you laughed!) and we will honour Ivy's on her birthday!
