Dear Companions,
Happy new year!
We are ready to start a new season of learning and sharing our faith journey with each other, and we hope you are as excited as we are!
Join us Wednesday at 19:00 in the parish hall, where dinner is prepared.
Please reply if you are coming, to let us know how much food we need.
We will delve into a course by bishop Robert Barron, whom you probably know from YouTube and the series Catholicism. The course is entitled "Mystery of God", and it is designed to help us Christians meet some of the typical objections to the faith from atheists, and answer them with truth and charity.
There is a short trailer for the course here: http://mysteryofgod.wordonfire.org/
We will watch session one, and then discuss the topic and share our thoughts.
For the discussion to be extra fruitful for everyone, please reflect on these questions a little before:
Have you ever seriously doubted that God exists?
Have you ever thought that maybe there is a point to it when people say that religion is a relic of the past, that it keeps people trapped in loyalty to immoral leaders, and prevents them from living free lives?
Or even if God exists - wouldn't it be better if he didn't? How can we worship God if he allows all the suffering in the world?
In the session, and the following five, we will get some answers from the deposit of Catholic faith to these very fundamental questions.
Mass begins at 18:00, followed by a short adoration, so you are very welcome to attend here as well.
See you soon!
God bless you,
Companions team
