Deer Avenger is a series of video games about a deer who hunts humans. It was developed by Simon & Schuster Interactive and Hypnotix. It is a parody of the Deer Hunter series of games.
The protagonist of the game is an anthropomorphic deer named Bambo, a portmanteau of the action hero Rambo and the Disney character Bambi. He is bipedal and hunts humans in a fashion similar to typical deer hunting in order to avenge all deer hunted by humans. Bambo mounts the heads of humans he kills on a wall in his cabin. He can tote a vast array of weapons ranging from slingshots to machine guns. He is voiced by Brian McCann, who frequently appeared on Late Night with Conan O'Brien.
Bambo was a deer with human features who decided to launch a revenge campaign against the humans for hunting the deer. He also acquired weapons, an M-16 rifle, a bazooka, and a slingshot, and with these he was ready to hunt. He hunted in three areas, Connecticut, Minnesota and W.Virginia. Before hunting, he always scouted the forests and looked for markings. Usually, when he found empty beer cans or nudist magazines, he immediately assumed that there might be hunters nearby, but sometimes he also found tree carvings. During these hunts, Bambo killed a total of seven people, and he cut off their heads and took them as trophies, just as hunters did with deers.
Bambo was staring at a female deer with a perverse smile, but then a car with three hunters came. The three hunters were Boog, Winthorp Wintherspoon and Zeke "500 Channel" Suvyman. Bambo shouted to the female deer to be careful, but it was too late, the car hit her, and the man-hunting deer swore revenge. After he was fully armed, he reached a town where the three hunters were staying in separate places.
Bambo is a rather cruel, brutal, disgusting, merciless, sadist person. He hated the hunters for killing the deers, and he also felt anger, contempt, and great dislike for humans. In battle, he was very animalistic, merciless, mocking and malicious. At the same time, he wasn't completely evil, he loved his love and was happy with her, even when she cheated on him, he wasn't angry at her, just disappointed and surprised. He did not hurt unarmed people in all cases, but he killed hunters mercilessly.
The graphics are very cute: cartoonish for moving things and photorealistic for the static background. The hunters represent a variety of stereotypes; from yuppie to hillbilly. There are background forest sounds, and like any other hunting game, there is no music. The true driving force behind this game is the humor in the comments of our heroic deer and his prey. Everything is a parody, and the great humor really makes you want to play a little bit more. Bambo is, in one word, fascinating: his comments are hilarious and will catch you completely off guard.

The gameplay consists of roving on an overhead forest map and searching for signs of recent hunter activity (such as beer cans, nudie mags, tree carvings, or a name written in the snow with urine). Then the player can hunt from that point which involves scrolling through a 360-degree panorama of the area, waiting for humans to show up. Bambo can also try to encourage humans to show up with assorted calls.
