I just installed a fresh copy of windows 2000 pro in hopes to upgrade
to win xp home (i only have the win xp home upgrade cd). it said that
it isnt a supported upgrade or something. does anyone know why? and is
there a way to still get it upgraded? any info is greatly appreciated.

Afraid I don't think you can do anything. Windows 2000 Professional
can only be upgraded to Windows XP Professional (this is their process
of upgrading to the similar version of their next upgrades). I believe
you can only upgrade 98 to XP Home (or 98 to XP Professional since 98
is a lower version).

Try doing a fresh install of XPH
If it asks for a dir for a qualifing upgrade product point it to the
2K CD
See if that will work
Often time I have seen with the XP "Upgrade" disks that thaey are
capable of a clean install at least with Pro
If you still are not getting anything get Pro instead of Home it is
better anyway

Boot your PC from windows and do the install from there. It will find
Win 2K and should upgrade (well do a clean install over the top, but
should use Win 2K as the base for the 'upgrade')
