How to check window visibility??

My application has a few overlapping windows, the question is:

"Is it possible to determine if a point on a window is
visible? (ie. not obscured by other window)"


We all know that the X-server maintains a list of stacking order and
use it to determine who's visible, perhaps such information can
be made use of ?
