I work with PEX and a SGI-environment. For displaying polyhedrons I want to use
HLHSR, but my server doesn't support any mode of HLHSR.
I found a Z-Buffer Modification by Daiji Takamori but in the documentation it's
written that there are some bugs, espacially for Silicon Graphics Iris
workstation. Does anybody have experience with HLHSR-Algorithms for PEX?
Any help would be appreciated.

I have tried the PEX server which SGI ships with IRIX 5.3 (and higher) and
it DOES support Z-buffer HLHSR.
If you are using the PEX-SI, it does NOT have HLHSR (see the FAQ).
But why would you want to use the SI when you have a vendor-supported
server available?
If you weren't aware that PEX was available from SGI, check your
IRIX installation CD again; there are (as I recall) three packages for PEX.

I don't know much about the SGI PEX server, but am surprised that HLHSR is
not supported. Perhsps someone from SGI can comment or you can find
someone at SGI to ask.

I haven't seen the Takamori mod, but there is also a mod (may be the same
one) available from the X Consortium for the PEX server avail from the
Consortium. Check the patches or contrib areas.
Most workstation vendors that ship PEX servers use hardware or software
Z buffers to implement HLHSR.
