1. About Wide X Window
What is NEW ?
1). Complete Chinese support
Wide X Window can handle simplified Chinese(used in main land) and
traditional Chinese(used in Taiwan and Hongkong) . It brings you not
only a platform for localization of many original applications based
on X-window , but also a perfect environment for developing Chinese
applications .

2). Compatiable with X11R5
Wide X Window is compatiable with X11R5 . Almost all applications
developed on Xaw or Motif 1.2 such as xedit, xmh, xmpostit, etc.
can process Chinese as well as English without any change .

3). Use IME(Input Methold Engine) to handle Chinese input
Based on Client/Server model , all Chinese input is done by a special
X client called IME for WxW .

4). Support most important Chinese input methods
They can be customized and rebuilt also . The following input methods
are built in now :
GB code(simplified Chinese used in main land) :
1) QuanPin input method
2) ZhuPin input method
3) WuBi input method
4) QuanJiao(double-byte ASCII in GB code) input method
5) GB code input method

BIG5 code(traditional Chinese used in Taiwan and Hongkong) :
1) QuanPin input method
2) ZhuPin input method
3) QuanJiao(double-byte ASCII in BIG5 code) input method

5). One key to switch IME
Wide X Window use a special key as an IME switch to switch on/off IME .
This key can be redefined also .

6). IME's layout can be customized
Support both input bar mode(off the spot) and system line mode(root) .


Support OS
Wide X Window ver.1.2 is available on the following OS :
SunOS 4.1.x, Linux, EWS 4800 , etc.

2. About WxW tryout release
This tryout release of WxW is in gz format , including IME for WxW and some
sample X clients on WxW . The programs in this package are statically linked
with WxW library , which is an internationalized Xlib supporting Chinese
developed by MicroObject Ltd . All these programs can handle Chinese as well
as English . They are :
